I rolled over and tucked my comforter under my chin to keep warm. I didn’t want to wake up yet. I didn’t have school and it was time for me to rest. But something wouldn’t let me sleep. The sun was shining through my window and directly into my eyes. Great. I wrapped my warmest blanket around me and stood up to shut my blinds. I walked over to the wall, and when I looked outside, I dropped my blanket. Over the woods in my backyard, there was a funky, modern looking, white spaceship hovering in the sky. Woah. As I stared, the ship started to rock, and it suddenly crashed down to the ground. I couldn’t move. I looked back up into the sky and another spaceship appeared in the white one’s place. This time it was gray. This one fell to the earth as well, just barely missing the white one. Then, the third and last one appeared in the sky, being a bit darker and bulkier than the first two. It fell right along with the others. No one is ever going to believe this. I scrambled to grab my phone so I could take pictures of the unusual machines. When I made it back to the window, all I could do was watch wide-eyed as the three spaceships that sat in my back yard started to glitch out. Suddenly, things started to fly at my window as the ships blew up all at the same time. That’s when I realized that this was serious, so what I did was I ran into the living room where my family and one of my teachers from school sat. I didn’t hesitate to tell my family that there were aliens in the backyard and that something needed to be done. Instead of helping me, all I got were dirty looks and a couple of glares from my parents. I was in a panic and I didn’t care that they didn’t believe me at the time. I ran back to my room and looked out of my window again to discover that all three of the ships were gone. This can’t be right. All that was left was an empty space where they used to sit.
“I’ll go with you.”
I turned to see Joshua, my younger brother, next to me. I gave him a puzzled look.
“Outside… I’ll go and help you find evidence or something.”
I smiled at him.
“Okay. Come on.”
So he and I ran out the back door and down the stairs to our back porch. We walked up to the spot where the ships once sat and started to search. There was an obvious indent in the ground where the ships made direct impact.
“What the-” My brother looked in awe.
I looked around to look for anything leftover from the ships. That’s when something caught my eye. I found a clump of metal stuck in the earth that must have been from the explosion. I picked it up and held it out to show Joshua. His eyes grew to the size of golf balls.
Without warning, there was a loud crash and a bang behind us. My brother and I whipped around to see our house, which was now almost completely demolished.
