“Toriel, I want to stay with you.” I said, looking up at her.
She looked down at me, seeming startled at first, but then her face molded into a smile. “Of course you can stay with me Frisk.” She took my hand, and we headed into a small woods nearby, where we found an abandoned house to spend the night in.
I awoke the next morning to see she had made me some butterscotch-cinnamon pie. I ate it, then went into the kitchen. Toriel wasn't up yet, so I went outside to see if I could find a place where we could start a garden, remembering her old one of golden flowers in the ruins.
I started marking out a spot where the soil was rich, when I began to feel what started as a tingling sensation. Then it changed into a horrible pain. It felt like every particle in my body was being ripped to millions of tiny pieces. Then I blacked out.
I awoke a few hours later, on a flower bed deep underground. I looked up to see a small pinprick of light high above me. My stomach filled with dread. How did I get back here? I moved forward, not sure what else to do.
Sure enough, there was Flowey in the next room. Except he didn't remember me, and he tried to kill me, just like the first time. I dodged the “friendliness pellets”, then Toriel came to save me. I went through everything I had once done before, until I got to the end.
“Sans!” I called out after we had all watched the sunset. “Something’s wrong! I need help or everything’s going to start over!”
“i know.” He said, as if this was perfectly normal. “i've been wondering when you would realize everything was controlled. let's try this. i'll hold everything down and you run to those buildings over there in the distance. maybe, if the player tries to reset, they won't be able to ‘cause you'll be out of reach. then i'll try to shut it down. now run kid. i know you can do it.”
I ran as fast as I could, made it to the city, then suddenly bumped into someone and falling over. She had long, blonde hair and blue eyes, looking to be the same age as me. Her shirt was pink with 2 blue stripes, the exact opposite of mine. Something about her seemed vaguely familiar.
“Frisk!” She exclaimed, a smile on her face. I was confused. How did she know my name?
“Who are you?” I asked, slowly getting up from the ground.
“Come on, quit messing around. I'm your twin sister, Sarah. Remember?”
I realized I didn't remember her because it wasn't programmed into this universe.
“Yeah, you’re right, I was just messing with you.” I said, hoping my lie was convincing.
“That’s okay. Where were you?” She asked me curiously.
“I fell down Mount Ebott and met a bunch of monsters. Most of them wanted to kill me, but I was nice to them and they became my friends. Then Asriel, a monster about our age, broke the barrier and set all the monsters free.”
“Whoa!” Sarah exclaimed excitedly. “I want to meet Asriel!”
My heart twinged with sadness. “I wish you could.” I said to Sarah. “But you can't.”
“How come?” My sister asked curiously. Boy, was she inquisitive.
“Because,” I said. “After he broke the barrier, he had to give the souls back, and couldn't maintain his true form. He turned back into a flower without a soul, and told me to forget about him.”
“That’s so sad.” Sarah said, tears glistening in her eyes. “Don't his parents miss him?”
