I used to work in retail and it's one of those jobs where people say "Oh if I could write a book about the stuff I've seen..." but I finally got out and realised: I really do need to write this down!
Here begins the (mostly true) ups, downs and WTF moments that working in a supermarket entails, the toll it can take on those who work there and WHY we get to that situation in the first place.
(Ignore the timestamps saying I uploaded this in 2019, I reuploaded a new version in 2023. A few comments may reference this version.)
Previous versions of my prologue (2018 art with 2019 lettering/edits) can be found on my Old versions page on my website, for those interested in the changes and processes/reasoning behind the decision to redraw this all out.

It's often said retail is hell. It is no secret that juggling awkward customers, co-worker squabbles and impractical management dogma is a delicate balance to maintain - so luckily for this Damnson's supermarket: they’ve been hiring!
The newbies are mostly eager to please for now but can they keep a straight face in a mad world of supermarket work?
