Year 174, Year of the Fae (Old Calendar)
An age of darkness looms over the kingdom of Bandolia, once a kingdom that spanned 400 leagues across the known world. Humans, elves, dwarves, demons, fae, and goblins were all part of a unified society, one whereby they had achieved great renown.
However, as do all great empires, every Golden Age has its day, and that day came in the form of fire, astral forces and celestial beings. They were called Three Of Six, a celestial being part of the Great Order, which comes down to the mundane plane to create anomalies, in the bid to create a unique reality, often times with catastrophic results.
The year that followed was one of great mystery and peril, fire rained down from the heavens razing the fields that the humans sow, trapping the dwarves in the mines they work, awakening demons that forgot their primal forms, and dividing the fae and the goblins from the rest of the realm. It was the beginning of the Strife which will change the Kingdom of Bandolia over the following millennia.
Year 3156, Year of Grottgart the Miserable ( Grott’s 32nd Calendar of His Making)
The unity of the Bandolian kingdoms are now part of a forgotten legend, now there are splintered factions with each race either forming clans or guilds on a now mostly scarce wasteland. For a millennia, new life can hardly be grown or nurtured, the dwarves were never seen again after the events of The Strife, and the elves kept to themselves, coming out from dead forests only to vanish curious wanderers or the occasional journeyman. War has loomed over the past decade over the remaining territories untouched by the Strife. Your story now begins in one of these regions called Dwendil. Largely untouched due to its uncommon attraction of the darker parts of society, yet it prospers from a corrupted hierarchy from old nobles and ragtag warlords, they are unified by need but rivalled in greed. A whisper within the region of Dwendil has stirred many an adventurer as tales have been woven about an old artefact which was left by the celestial called the Tempest Dawn whose power was said to be able to bring peace back to the realm.
