“C’mon girls, we are getting late. You know we have some fun to catch up on. And besides we don’t graduate from a university every day. Right?” Asked Kate.
“Right.” We all shouted.
“Well then let’s go. But let’s make sure we look smoking hot before we go.” Said Kate, inspecting our dresses in her words making sure “we looked sexy as a model tonight.” Her words not mine. Before we delve in further, I should explain to you how this whole story even started. Well, let me give you some introductions but firstly let’s start with me.
My name is Kiana Knight or as Kate likes to call me K.K or K for short. I am 23 years old and have just recently graduated uni. You’d be amazed at how time passes but not when you dread it. I never dreaded uni, in fact Chanel used to say, “I was the goody-two shoes and I was born for liking school work.” Oh well, I loved doing my work and properly too.
For my family life, my mother and father had died when I was 17 years old. It’s been 6 years since they died and boy were those 6 years torture for me. Apparently, it was from a plane crash while I was in California finishing my last year of college. Someone had informed me while I was attending my graduation and, they had told me that the plane crashed while trying to reach New Zealand (that’s where I was born but moved to California to finish off my college years).
I couldn’t stop crying. Why? Because God had chosen to take my parents at a time when we could rejoice all of us being together with each other and to celebrate. And leaving me here all alone without any siblings or anything to rely on other than Kate who was my friend and confidante all through that horrible time. But I managed and along the way met Chanel and Roxy, two friends who would stay by my side through anything.
But enough about me. Let me introduce you to my other friends. Kate or two nicknames we liked to call her by: KitKat or Kat, was the blonde in a blue dress which the colour complemented her eyes inherited by her mother, she was the life of the party. Like she could pull up an excuse of a party anytime and even start a party while upset. Also, my beloved friend loved doing extreme things like extreme mountain climbing, extreme bike racing and extreme etc. And, we kind of have the same name, so in school we used to get mocked by being called the KK sisters. Don’t ask, school especially high school could be a tough time on a 15-year-old. But that’s all about our extreme Kate and how we’ve shared our good times together.
On my left stood Chanel. Wearing a simple maroon dress with no sleeves and earrings that shined like the sun and having brown hair that complemented her skin and her brown eyes. Not being racist but she looked breath-taking. Though she wasn’t confident, she could end an argument between people just like that.
With a snap of her fingers, we would make peace with the person we fought with. But continuing, she was a nerd all through our school life but we all loved her for that. And she did help us with studying, considering the rest of us sucked at either chemistry or physics, we acknowledged her help. Even the teachers knew about her helping us and how she also won competitions.
And her family, an interesting family they are. Well, let’s just say that Chanel isn’t exactly from a normal working family. Instead she ranks us in the second richest family of NZ. And, her father and mother are highly ranked doctors and her sister is currently doing a job in the fashion industry. She has a bit more style than Chanel but both sisters are good in the fashion area. Oh well, that’s our darling Chanel.
Lastly Roxy. What a charmer and flirt. Can I say that? Yup, I sure can if I am defining Roxy. Honestly, how much can I say apart from the fact that, she flirted with all the guys from uni and even wink or flash a flirty smile at strange males in malls or other public places. Shocking, isn’t it? Oh well she is like that, but her charms did get us through a lot of things. Like this one time, we had planted a smoke bomb in a stupid teacher’s classroom because the teacher was let’s just say irritating to the core.
It was a good trick but a boy from our year saw us and was about to leave to tell the teacher when Roxy decided to use her charms and stop him from going far. As a result, she went on a date with him and broke up 2 days later. Hehe, if you are a charmer, you are a heartbreaker as well.
But she was also a fashionista or basically a girl who was obsessed with shopping. Oh well, we all loved her to pieces. Anyway, she was with red hair and green eyes. Reminded me a lot of Harry Potter what with the green eyes and whatnot. Anyway, she liked the colour black and was even wearing a red dress complementing her red hair since she thought it was good to “contrast colours and match hair colour”. Like honestly, who the hell would do that? But never mind.
Her parents were talented and so was her brother. Her father had been at one time in his life a football legend and now he was currently coach to the New Zealand All Blacks. No joke, he was away most of the time because of being their coach. Now as for Roxy’s mother, her mother had indeed been a heartbreaker in her high school life. Guess mother’s antics applies to daughter.
Anyway, her mother had back in her 20s had a career as a model. A very famous model indeed. You ever heard of the name La Fabulana? Well that was her mother. The Fabulana. But now she is also a coach to other younger models to train them how to behave and etc. What a fantastic pick of talents I must say.
So that’s basically all of us. Now getting back to what we were discussing at hand. So basically, we all had graduated uni and were deciding to party somewhere. Katie as usual had decided to do something reckless, like going to a strip club except it was males doing the…you got it.
And after fighting or rather trying to convince Katie that it was a lousy idea, she still didn’t agree and forced all of us to go with her or otherwise. And her “otherwise” were never that good for us to survive through. So, we were getting some last-minute changes done. And going back to the conversation.
“So, we are ready, right?” Asked Kate.
“Yup, let’s do it”. Exclaimed the rest.
We went out on the street of the apartment since we lived together and because we couldn’t bear to separate from each other. So, we were on the street and the next thing you know a limo pulls up.
“Well I thought we could call one.” Said Kate casually.
Did I mention she is rich as hell too? Oh well she is, since her father is a CEO of some big-shot company and her mother is a well-known architect. So that explains the million parties she has every year.
“Let’s go then guys.” I suggested since we were all were getting more and more late for the so-called fun Katie had suggested. Once we got inside, I saw that there was a small bar, a make-out couch (Don’t even ask me how) and a big 50-inch screen tv with all those cool features in them.
“Well you wanna watch some tv guys? It is quite some time until we reach our destination.” Said Kate, holding the remote control in the air.
“Alright then, let’s watch Wonder Woman. I heard it’s pretty good.” Said Chanel waving the popcorn.
We all watched the film since it was going to an hour to reach the bar, because apparently Kate said it was an exotic bar and it was far away and expensive, so we thought to watch the film.
After some time, we had reached our destination. I tried to get out of the car, but my legs had apparently decided to fall asleep, so imagine my surprise when I tried to walk and I almost fell if not for Chanel’s hand.
“Thanks C.” I said, to her thanking her for not letting my make-up ruin because of my dear, darling footing. Note the sarcasm.
“Anytime, K.” Said Chanel reassuringly. After that little tiny incident, we went inside the so-called exotic bar which was called “Un Buon Momento” which meant (since I studied Italian as well): An Enjoyable Time. How very interesting.
Once we went inside, I could hardly see any people because of those blinding lights and, I could almost hear nothing as the pulsing music raged on like a monstrous bull. But I could see with little eyesight, people who were dancing in the middle and making out as often as you see in bars. What a place it was indeed.
“Kat, are you sure this is the place for that fun you had planned for us?” Shouted Roxy, looking around. Because as you can tell, we could barely hear or even understand what the other person was saying.
“Why of course doll, that’s where we are supposed to be.” Shouted back Kate.
“Well, I will go check for the reception and ask him about our “appointments”. Again, shouted Kate, while winking at us. Soon Katie was gone. And while the rest of us were standing around, like little kids who were scared to go into their first day of school. But soon, I heard Chanel’s voice.
“Guys, I see a bar in the far corner, you want to get a drink?” Asked Chanel.
“Well, it is better than standing around, I say we go for it.” Said Roxy.
Soon me, Roxy and Chanel decided to get a drink and wait around for Kate. The only thing that I could see while looking around was the people dancing like wild animals and the annoyingly, irritating loud music blaring out of the speakers behind the DJ. I was starting to lose some consciousness, when Katie decided to grace us with her presence.
“So, our appointments are all set up in different rooms and I have the keys, so each one of you have your own key for getting in and out. Got it?” Said Kate, after handing out our keys.
“Kitkat, you actually forced us all into this mess, and now you have arranged a different escort for all us? I thought a couple of drinks would be an excellent choice to party, but this is just too much. I am going.” Said Chanel angrily, because out of all of us, she didn’t like these kinds of activities, in fact she hated it.
“Cmon doll, we are all here to have a little bit of fun. Besides, we don’t graduate uni every day, now do we? No, then let’s have some celebration. And look, you don’t have to stay long, these guys are gentle and they can even talk instead of doing the whole thing, would that help?” Asked Kate trying to reassure Chanel.
“I guess, I could get out of it like you said. Alright, I’ll do it.” Said Chanel finally agreeing.
“Well then, it’s show-time. Remember, your keys have the numbers written on them for the room numbers or call me if you’re in trouble. But there might be chances, that I could be…uh busy.” Said Kate winking at us.
Saying we agreed, we left. I left to go to my room which on my key said 395. I went to a door and first knocked. No one answered. But I quickly opened the door because it was left open and my key didn’t work, and first checked to see if there was anything suspicious. Nothing was. Then I went further into the room and it was dark, like pitch black.
Switching on the lights, I saw someone and the world for that one moment felt like it had stopped. I saw him and how his body looked like a Calvin Klein model or even making the models jealous. And his face, so sharp yet looked so soft to touch. And those eyes, those green eyes that looked at me straight away, but held some emotion, maybe shock I didn’t know.
Almost as if the emotion held was only important for the two of us. And that blond hair in a quiff hairstyle, that my hands were itching to touch and run through, but kept back because it was stupid to do so. But I quickly realized and stopped staring. Soon I coughed to get his attention on the critical situation.
“Do you know where room 395 is?” I asked, since he was a worker by his apparent outfit.
“It is down the hall, where all of the suites are, but are you Catherine La Modoe?” He asked in his handsomely husky voice which was making me sorta feel the fall to the floor. But I wasn’t going to cower, I was here for fun not for making a fool of myself. So, I continued.
“No, but thank you for the directions. Goodbye.” I said and before he said anything else I left the room and called Kate, since I didn’t think about going to that room anymore.
“Hi Kate, can you tell the girls that I am leaving and call up the limo so I can go home?” I asked Kate, hopefully that she would respond rather than doing god knows surely what.
“Sure doll, I will call Joe to pick you up and sorry you didn’t have fun K.” Said Kate sadly since she really wanted me to enjoy.
“Oh well, maybe next time. Anyway thanks.” I said to her and without further ado, I left the building and waited outside their sheltered zone for parking. Soon Joe’s limo came. Assuming it was me, he rolled the window down.
“You’re Ms Knight I presume?” Asked Joe.
“Yes, now can you take me to 125 Wellington Street?” I asked him and preparing myself to pay him later as soon as I got home.
“Okay then Ms Knight. Off we go.” Said Joe and started driving towards home. Meanwhile, I tried to catch some sleep and tried to manage to rid my dreams of the man who had just managed to even in my dreams enrapture me with himself.
