Ivan
I shivered as the cold air conditioning circled the cafeteria. It was so cold that not even my thick sweater could protect me. As if trying to eat with a bunch of horrendously loud Idiots wasn't enough.
I fucking hate summer. Not because of the heat but because my school turns classrooms into Alaska with the air conditioning.
Keeping one hand entirely covered in my sleeve and used the other to pick at my questionable frozen pineapple pizza. Damn it, Would it kill the lunch Ladies to cook this sh-
"IVAN!"
...
Making her way through crowds of people was a short light brown-haired blonde Nerd. I mean if you looked at me without knowing my interests you wouldn't think I'm a nerd. But she...yeah she downright spelled nerd. God... I sound like an asshole.
Anyway her complete look is served with green glasses with tiny little Inuyasha stickers on the side of them. A shirt with a galaxy wolf. Blue backpack with more anime stickers. And all completed with long socks that had entirely visible fluffy fox socks.
I internally died as she made her way over. How could she be oblivious to the loud snickering that followed her wherever she went at school. Either socially stupid or maybe just stupidly stubborn?
She hurriedly scrambled to my table with a bright smile.
"Guess what I got!"
I murmured "A new edition of Silver Moon?"
Silver moon was this comic book series that I used to read involving Werewolf and Vampire hunters it could be extremely cheesy at times.
But I thought the fight scenes were pretty cool. I once drew a character from silver moon fighting off a werewolf in art class. Amelia and I never really talked except for maybe times if we were around each other we would ask for the answer to the problem of a question but that would be it.
But things quickly changed once she saw my art piece. She began to have conversations with me a lot after that. I think it's been 4 months? Mostly her doing the talking part. It's not all that bad I mean yes she's loud and won't shut up most of the time. But I think she means well.
She grinned "Nope even better two tickets to the silver wolf werewolf convention!"
Opening her backpack she revealed two silver tickets with tiny little wolf silhouettes at the ends of them. I stared at them the incredulously silver moon was not that popular I knew when it came out back in 2013 there were events and conventions.
But I bet even those were small. Could they still be pushing out events with such a tiny fanbase?
"How did you get the tickets?''
She looked at me curiously raising an eyebrow.
"I bought them with my allowance."
I mainly meant where she bought them because again silver moon has a really small fanbase. They hadn't even had an event in years why suddenly have one now? And then I was interrupted in my thoughts as Amelia poked me back down to earth.
"So, Do you want to come to the event with me?"
"Not sure I'll have to ask my-" I refuse to call that witch my mom.
"Aunt."
Amelia tilted her head to the side and studied me for a moment before turning back to her backpack. Reaching into her bag and taking out a sandwich in plastic wrapping.
Amelia brought her lunch I guess. Smart move to be honest I swear I saw something in my pineapple bits move.
She glanced at me and tore her sandwich in half and offered me the half she hadn't touched. "Want some?"
snatched it from her fingers, like I said this schools food was insanely questionable
I glanced at her and passed her a napkin "You've got crumbs on your mouth''
Her face burned red and she swallowed quickly "Sorry."
You know, I would think she had a crush on me if not for the fact that she did this to nearly anyone she was next to at lunch. We had gone to the same elementary school and had been like that ever since then. I don't understand how anyone could be born so bright and bubbly.
I had once again gotten swept into my thoughts not reading the mood.
I stole a look at her, for some reason she was aggressively staring into her sandwich now. Um, Alright? I coughed and tried to bring up a conversation.
"So um are you excited for Spring Break?" I facepalmed myself internally, spring break? It's summer break you fucking dumbass!
She seemed to perk up at this. So not a total failure.
"You mean Summer Break? Yeah super excited I'm going on a camping trip for stargazing-"
She talked more about her plans and I chided in now and then so she would know I was listening.
I liked to be alone but this wasn't so bad I guess I could say I even enjoyed it. Sharp ringing filled the cafeteria and other students began packing up and clearing out for their last class.
"Ah, Time to go I guess Bye!" She smiled and waved before quickly disappearing into the crowd.
I grabbed my backpack and headed out as well. My last class was history and as always was boring. I zoned out I felt tired as hell. Didn't get to sleep yesterday.
I yawned grabbing my stuff and heading out of the classroom while everyone else was heading off campus I headed to my usual spot near the back entrance school gate.
I sat on one of the less noticeable benches near a shady oak tree.
I didn't want to go home too early the time school ended was around her waking hour and I don't feel like dealing with her.
I just needed to wait until near sunset just a couple of hours. I dug around my bag for my 3DS damn did I forget to pack it?
I decided to just finish a bit of my homework I couldn't find my Gameboy and I liked to save my phone battery for emergencies.
My thoughts were interrupted as a sharp pain shot through the back of my head. I staggered away from my bag turning to face my attacker.
"wha-"
"Shut the fuck up four eyes."
That damn ugly voice, it was Adam.
Not much to say about this guy he's been around me since Elementary he was a bully then and nothing much has changed now except that he was bigger.
He didn't pay favoritism either everyone was subject to his bullying even teachers. If only the principal wasn't so lousy.
He snatched up my backpack dumping the contents on the ground.
Homework and textbooks and a few pencils seemed to be its only contents until he gave my bag another shake. A blue shiny but scratched Gameboy clattered to the ground.
Adam grinned reaching out for my Gameboy. The thing was it had fallen closer to me instead. I got to it before he did.
"Hand it over before I smash your glasses and shove them up to your throat"
I scooped a bunch of my homework and textbook into a bag and gave the most deadpan look I could muster.
"No fuck you you're a bitch"
Fast forward to an hour later. I got my ass kicked to bits.
I wheezed pain shot through my chest and neck. I made a move to stand up nearly falling back to the ground.
I staggered and began feeling around for my glasses moving around slowly so I could tell if I was about to step on them.
I finally felt a smooth plastic item different from the rough concrete. I put on my glasses moving my hair out of the way.
But some type of red liquid was splotched over the glass. I gently rubbed my hand over it and took a closer look at it.
Blood? I checked my arms and legs for any cuts that might have gotten blood on them. None.
It dawned on me and I felt it under my nose. That prick had nearly broken my nose. I wiped most of it off though it kept coming anyway.
I surveyed around the mess of our one-sided fight.
My backpack contents were once again sprawled around the ground but it didn't look to be as if someone had looked through it.
I thought back to what happened. He had tackled me. Causing my backpack to slip from my fingers. I hadn't zipped it.
I took a step toward my bag and winced in pain. He'd also kicked me in the ribs.
I continue towards my backpack and started moving around its contents.
A blue shiny square Gameboy came into view and for a few seconds, my bruises didn't hurt that much.
The guy had gotten so angry he fought me until he got tired and forgot to take my stuff.
Moron.
The sun was nearly gone by the time I got home. Usually, I would just wait around the neighborhood and wait for her to leave.
But I wanted to treat my bruises. I limped towards the door and reached under the carpet grabbing a rusted key.
I used it to open the door slowly and closing it as quietly as possible. I moved to turn the light switch on but caught myself. The beating must have made me tired to forget that I don't want her to know I'm home.
It was dark I waited a bit for my eyes to adjust to the thick absence of light. Slowly I began to recognize the old furniture and interior, waiting a few more seconds so I could fully navigate my way around upstairs to my room.
As I quietly made my way upstairs I heard a creak. And then I felt a cold hand fall lightly on my shoulder. My blood ran cold.
"Ivan."
I slowly turned wincing as she gripped my shoulder tightly so hard I swear she drew blood. I was met with a woman who was both skinny and pale though tall. Her eyes were a reddish-pink and her hair was stark white. With one glance you would never think she could be Murderer. A Monster. Not too long ago, I would never have guessed this monster was my aunt.
She drew closer closing on to me like a predator with prey. Her eyes narrowed to slits, her canines elongating to sharp points, and her nails growing to sharp talon-like claws. I made futile efforts to escape. I knew I should have waited until complete nightfall. I knew it.
She was so close to my neck now so close. She paused and looked me in the eye drawing back for just a moment. Her eyes became a bit rounder. She was lost to hunger right now this wasn't her. But honestly, the non-hungry her wasn't much better.
She paused next to my ear.
"Ivan. Your late."
And then she plunged her fangs into my throat.
And the darkness surrounding me seemed to grow darker.
