In the old town of Chatham, Massachusetts, with its classic pubs and strange antique shops, lived a young woman. She had long, silky black hair and always loved to wear blue. She had one child, a small quirky toddler with jet black hair just like his mothers. He was like any other child, happy, silly, cute, but he had a secret so deep that not even he knew was bad. He had wings and horns. He was magic. The most feared and terrible type of magic ever to be on the face of earth, a demon. Had anyone known that his mother was hiding him, she and the boy would both be burned.
Thankfully, the boy and his mother were able to hide his magic. He turned 13 and began middle school. He was taken back a grade so he was old for his group, but he was quite short so he fit in. He made a few acquaintances but never found a person that he felt he could call his friend.
At least, until he met Gale. He was new to the school but was very popular among the grade. He was quite handsome of course, but he also had a certain aura that just made you want to be best friends with him. He had brown floppy hair and always wore a beanie, like Hunter. Hunter never looked good in a beanie, but he needed it to hide his horns.
Once a month, Gale would miss a day or two of school because he said he needed to replace his braces. Hunter began to notice these things. He always noticed if Gale wore a new shirt. Hunter's envy became an obsession. Hunter needed to be friends with him. One day he couldn't take it any longer, he went up to Gale when he was sitting alone. He sat down and blurted, “So you’re Gale right?” Gale studied Hunter's face carefully, as if he was a predator planning how to catch its prey. After a few seconds, which felt like hours to Hunter, Gale responded, “Uh- yeah. I don't think I have met you yet. What's your name?”
“I'm Hunter. So- uh, what do you like to do for fun?
“I like to skateboard and read”
Their conversation went on and on, they hit off immediately! No wonder he's so popular. Thought Oliver.
They decided to meet up at Gales house after school on friday. They talk, play video games, watch tv, and before they know it, it's 3am! Gale asks his parents if he can stay over, and they say yes. The boys continue to talk and they are laughing at a joke that Oliver made, they laugh so hard that Oliver falls over and his beanie falls off.
