"Rachel...?"
He jumped. Someone had found him, heard him. He ground his teeth together as he peered through the plants.
Long, slender legs. No shoes.
"No shoes...?" Rachel whispered to himself.
"Rachel! Where did you go?" the stranger shouted.
Rachel stood deathly still, afraid of being seen, again. He moved slightly to the side, preparing to make a dash for it.
"There you are!" Rachel nearly screamed. He looked up at the person who had uncovered his secret and hoped to god they didn't know him from school. Rachel gasped as he looked at the boy standing in front of him. He had blond hair that just barely touched his shoulders, and a torn shirt that looked like it had never been washed. Rachel looked at the boy in fear of what he might say.
"Why do you cower? Do you not remember who I am?" Rachel shook his head. The boy sighed.
"My name is Mond. You know me from school." Rachel could feel his heart crumble into pieces. Someone from school found him, again. He would have to move, again. He would have to find his own quiet place, again.
Mond stood in front of Rachel, very confused as to why Rachel looked at him like he was holding a gun to his head.
"I'm not going to tell anyone." he said calmly. Rachel picked his head up a bit, his eyes widening.
"You lie." Rachel spat. "Everyone says that yet no one means it." Rachel could feel tears prick at his eyes again.
"I'm serious though." Mond knelt down in front of Rachel and held a hand out to him.
"You're a Brull, right? I'm a Seher." Mond said calmly. "Now you have to keep that secret as well, so we can both trust each other." Mond smiled at Rachel, and Rachel just stared at him in disbelief.
"What...what did you call me?" Rachel's eyes widened in fear. Mond raised a brow at him.
"A Brull? You do know of the Haus der Verdammten, right?" Rachel shook his head. Now it was Mond's turn to stare at Rachel in disbelief.
"You've got a howl like that, and you don't even know what you are?" Mond looked at Rachel up and down. "You look like you reside with Unbegabt anyway..." Mond shook his head with a loud sigh. "You've got a lot to learn Rachel." Mond looked back up at him. "But as of now it doesn't look like you trust me at all. Well let me ask you something. Have you ever noticed that the teachers and students treat you differently?" Rachel gasped. All his life no one had spared him a second glance, and he never new why. Mond smiled at him.
"I'll take that as a yes. That's because you have a wird around you, and Unbegabts can't see it, but they can feel it, and yours is strong, because you're a Brull. Mine is weaker because I'm a Seher. Only those that have the gifts of the Haus der Verdammten can see other's wirds." Rachel's head was spinning. All this information was a lot to take in at once. He raised his hand up and placed it on his forehead.
"W..what?" was all he could manage. Mond sighed and gave him a pitiful smile.
"Tell you what, sing again, and I'll show you what you can do."
