I wrote a sloppy 'sure' on my hand and showed it to him. He smiled which shouldn't have bothered me as much as it did. In fact, it terrified me. How could he be so happy for me to come to his home? Didn't I make him upset on the bus? Was he going to hurt me?
I looked up at him, hoping he wasn't staring at me anymore. And as if on cue, he looked away. I blushed and returned to the book in front of me, forgetting anything that was happening. All I could think about was what was going to happen at his house.
Was he going to harm me?
Was he going to introduce me to his mom?
Who was his mom? What did she look like?
"Can I go call my mom real quick?" I asked, wondering if my friend will cancel the plans tonight without telling mom.
"Sure, just make it quick." She said, "Go outside the door and call your mother."
"We all don't need to hear your conversation." She sneered.
My head was becoming overwhelmingly heavy and my eyelids feeling as though they were lifting weights way to large. I dropped my eyelids for a second before opening them quickly.
"You okay?" The girl beside me asked. What was her name again?
She looked at me with fake concern and it made me feel even more weighed down.
"Ya, ya I'm okay," I said, giving her my best, tired smile.
She gave me one back before turning around to the teacher. So tired. I kept my eyes on the board before the teacher said a name I clearly recognized.
"Do you understand Liam?" I looked back and saw his head bounce up and he looked so confused for a second before saying a weak "5." And giving a, yet another, weak smile.
I felt really bad at first then a wave of regret rushed through my body as the entire class broke out into a laugh. I slouched in my seat but kept my eye's on him. As the class settled down and looked back at the board, I gave him my best apologetic look I could muster. He quickly looked at the board, ignoring me completely.
I turned around and paid attention but quickly felt my head becoming heavy again and it dropped. I snapped it back up and could have sworn I felt a pair of eye's burning across my back.
