Using the power of the souls, Frisk broke the barrier, setting the monsters free. The humans rushed to the entrance, ready to defend their home from what they were sure was a monster invasion. Frisk, serving as a mediator, manage to calm them down enough that they didn’t immediately murder every monster in sigh, but they remained tense.
The humans watched as a couple hundred monsters emerged from the underground, carrying all their belongings on their backs and in wagons. A small valley near the entrance was chosen for their new home, picked by a small group consisting of Sans, Undyne, Alphys, and Toriel.
Making use of their magic, the monsters quickly set up a small town, very similar to Snowdin in layout and look. In fact, Frisk had a sneaking suspicion that Sans had teleported his and Papyrus’ house to the surface. They settled in rather quickly, now that they knew they weren’t going to be murdered by the humans.
Frisk, Chara, and Asriel would be living in the house next to Sans and Papyrus. It felt good to be living so close to their friends. Toriel lived at the end of their street, although most days she could be found wandering around town, reassuring the monsters that everything would be alright, or sitting in Sans’ living room, swapping bad jokes and puns with the skeleton while Papyrus cooked.
All in all, the monsters were transitioning well to the human world.

“Chara, come on! It’s time for lunch!”
Chara smiled and closed his book. Even after a month, it was strange living in a house with Frisk and Asriel. They mostly stayed to their rooms most days, gathering for meals and sharing the occasional game day.
“Chara, hurry up!”
Setting her book on her bedside table, Chara swung her legs off the bed, before pushing herself up. She walked out the door of her room, closing it behind her. The house had been designed by her and Frisk, in the days where they were planning their assent into the world of the humans. Asriel had offered practical advise on it, as well as vetoing some of their more out there ideas.
As she passed into the kitchen, She was pounced on from behind the door. As she fell, she noticed a pillow had been set on the floor to cushion her fall.
“Azy!” she mumbled into the pillow as she hit it. No one but Asriel would have been in the house, as well as jumped her like this.
“Hug attack!” Shouted a voice somewhere above her.
Chara struggled against the fuzzy grip of her attacker, before another voice burst in.
“Don’t worry Chara, I got him!”
Chara felt another weight hit them, before she was released. Coming up from the pillow, she saw Frisk giving Asriel a bear hug from behind. Of course, Asriel was much stronger than Frisk, but he was playing along.
“No, Frisk! I had her right where I wanted her!”
Asriel pretended to struggle, before ‘breaking free’ from Frisks hold.
“Ok everyone, sit at the table. I’ll get the food.”
Chara and Frisk rushed to the small table, set for three people. As they sat down, Asriel brought over 3 plates of chicken sandwiches.
“So, what’s the plan for today?”
Chara stretched. “I’ve got sentry duty with Sans. The Monster Council is still worried about an attack.”
Frisk laughed.
“Yeah, and they aren't going t get one. As much as the humans don’t seem to like us being here, I don’t think they are going to attack us. They are always simply arguing about what rights the monsters will have, and where they will be allowed to go.”
Asriel snorted.
“Seems like all the rest of the humans do is argue. At least we know what’s going on here.”
Following the monsters setting up the new town, both Asgore and Toriel had refused to be the singular leader of the monsters. Instead, they oversaw the creation of the monster council, made up of the oldest and wisest monsters. The community had insisted that Toriel have a seat on that council. In turn, she had requested that Frisk be on it as their human advisor.
The council had quickly decided that the risk of attack from the humans was too great. They set up a system of sentries, on constant watch for an attack. Chara had volunteered for it as soon as the announcement was made. Surprisingly, so did Sans. when they were divided up for teams, they ended up being assigned to the same rotation.
“You know, you should get a job Azy.”
Asriel glared at Chara.
“I'm doing fine. You both bring in enough money to keep up with everything we need to, as well as get food and do something fun every once and awhile”
“That’s no excuse to be a lazy doofus!”
Asriel chuckled, watching Chara get worked up.
“Well, if you really think im useless, then how do I have 120,000 subscribers on YouTube?”
Chara gave him an odd look
“120,000 who nows on What now?”
Asriel smacked his hand into his face.
“How do you…? You know what, fine. It’s this website, where anyone can upload videos for other people to watch.”
Chara shook her head in confusion.
“Sounds lame and pointless. Why would you want to watch someone else do something?”
Asriel opened his mouth to protest, but Frisk cut him off.
“Welp, I’m off. The counsel wants me to help with some negotiations with the humans.”
Chara nodded. “You going to say bye to Sans and Papyrus first?” she asked, pointing to a blue door set in the kitchen wall. Frisk looked at it for a moment, then shrugged.
“Sure, why not.”
And with that she gathered up her bad, which had been stored under the table.
“See you both tonight!”
With that she swept open the door, revealing a swirling wall of blue energy. After a moment of hesitation, Frisk stepped through. The door closed behind her.
