After getting clothes, I was able to find a job. It was at a fast food place, but whatever, it was something. I was willing to work my butt off to make some sort of living and find an apartment or something. I worked for two weeks before I started looking for somewhere to stay and oddly enough, I found somewhere quickly. Someone needed a roommate, so I quickly called and sure enough, the person hadn't heard from anyone else.
The only problem? My roommate was a guy... And I wasn't used to dealing with guys, so I'm kind of screwed. I'm meeting him today to discuss everything and hopefully move in. So, I dressed in a nice, but very casual dress and have my wavy hair down. I'm nervous, but he seems like a nice enough guy.
When I got to the meeting place, I started to panic, because what if he had some ulterior motive... I calmed myself down and sat down. Soon enough a guy walks in with a sweatshirt that I've seen before and he looks around nervously. He finally walks up to me after a long while.
"Are you Dee Michelson?" the guy in the sweatshirt asked. I nodded.
"Yes." I said, "I am... Are you Daniel Tray?" The guy smiled.
"Yep." he said, "That's me!" Daniel pointed at himself with his thumb.
"So..." I said, "About the room..."
"Oh," Daniel said, "Don't worry, it's cleared out and all ready for you to move in. Do you need a moving van or something?"
"No." I said, "I only have clothes." Daniel frowned.
"Hey..." he said, "Don't I know you from somewhere?"
"I don't think so..." I said.
"Oh, yeah!" Daniel said, pointing at me, "You're the lady who typed too fast at the library!" I sighed.
"What does this have to do with me moving in?" I asked.
"Uh..." Daniel said, "Well... Nothing really, but you have to get some furniture for the room... Maybe we could go together and have you move in now." I frowned.
"I can't get my clothes until later..." I said, "Can I move in first thing tomorrow?" Daniel looked at me like he didn't understand.
"And why wouldn't you be able to get your clothes now?" Daniel asked, obviously confused.
"Because the shelter doesn't open again until 4." I said. Daniel's eyes widened.
"You live at a shelter?" Daniel asked.
"Shut up." I said, "I don't want to talk about it."
"I thought you were living with your parents or something..." Daniel said, "But... Wow."
"No..." I said, "It isn't 'wow'. And besides, I did live with my mom, but something happened and now I can't."
"How old are you?" Daniel asked.
"None of your business." I said. Daniel looked dejected.
"I just got out of college." Daniel said, "But I'm 25." I blinked, because it was unexpected. "How about we go get you some furniture? I'll pay for one thing and you don't have to pay your half of the rent for two months." Daniel said. I feel like I gave him a weird look.
"Are you really going to do this for me?" I asked. Daniel nodded.
"If we're going to be roommates, we might as well be friends too." Daniel said, "Oh, and call me Dan." I smiled.
"Okay." I said, "Let's go, Dan." Dan smiled.
"I'll bring you to the best place for furniture." Dan said as we left, "My car's right here." He let me into his car and we went to what I expected to be a furniture store, but it was more of a discount furniture store. I found a few nice things and bought a dresser, a night stand, and a lamp. Dan bought me a desk and an alarm clock.
Soon enough it was the next day and I moved in first thing, just like I wanted. I loved the apartment.
