I knew I was dreaming almost right away. I mean when was the last time you woke up in a room full of bright red bunnies wearing party hats, huh? Seriously, I've had weird dreams before, we all have, but this really took the cake. I was laying on the ground and all the rabbits were just kind of milling around me like a herd of cows or something. To put the icing on the cake, I'm pretty sure I could hear Single Ladies by Beyoncé playing somewhere in the distance. All in all, I guess you could say it was interesting.
After a few minutes of just laying on the floor, I hauled myself to my feet and took a better look at my surroundings. I was in a room about the size of a classroom, but instead of desks and stupid motivational posters taking up space, this room was instead filled to the brim with little Peter cotton-tails. They were everywhere, covering every inch of the floor, the only spot that was free was the area where I had been laying. Other than having party hats strapped over their ears though, they seemed pretty normal to me.
"What the hell kinda dream is this?" I asked myself.
"Well it's yours obviously, how am I supposed to know kid?"
Someone had responded to my question, I heard it loud and clear, but when I whipped around to see who it was I only found more rabbits.
"Who was that?"
"Me you idiot, look down here."
The voice was coming from somewhere in the room, but when I looked down all I saw was a little grey bunny looking at me, it was the only one I could see with that coloring, every other bunny was an unnatural shade of red. I was about to give up and just try to wake myself up from this stupid dream when the little ball of fluff opened its mouth.
"It's me you dumbass, open your damn eyes."
"What the fu-"
"Watch your language kid! I'm allowed to cuss, not you." The bunny mumbled under his breath. "Kids these days honestly..."
I was having some trouble understanding what was happening, yeah I knew this was a dream and everything, this wasn't real, but my dreams never got this weird. Even though I knew this was only happening in my head it was still hard too, well, wrap my head around it.
"Hey kid, you listening?"
"Uhhhh, yes?"
"What was the last thing I just said then, hm?"
"Um... were you talking about... politics?"
If a bunny could look like it wanted to smack you, then I'm pretty sure this is what it would look like. I felt like someone was attempting to burn a hole through my skull.
"No, you little brat I was not talking about politics, I was talking about how you're in danger."
To be honest, I didn't really trust little bunny dudes judgment, especially considering I was almost positive by now that I was on some kind of acid trip, but my interest was peaked, so I took the bait.
"What do you mean I'm in danger."
"I mean that you need to wake up now, or else there's a good chance you won't be waking up at all."
That didn't sound very good, but I didn't have a chance to reply before all the bunnies in the room turned to me suddenly, it was really freaking creepy. It just got creepier as they started to chant 'wake up, wake up' over and over again. They all started to move towards me as they chanted. Imagine being cornered by blood red bunnies wearing party hats while they chanting creepily, I bet you can't. Eventually, they started to get too close for comfort and before I knew it, it was like I was drowning in a sea of fluffiness. I started to flash back to that moment in the gym earlier, and I felt my body begin to heat up like it had before.
No. No way am I blowing up right now. I am not going to add bunny killer the list of stupid and horrible things I had done in my life, even if this was just a dream. I kept trying to push them away, but it wasn't working, and I was quickly overwhelmed. I couldn't control it anymore, so I just closed my eyes and hoped for the best. I felt myself release the explosion and kept my eyes closed, I did not want to see guts go flying or something equally as horrifying, but I didn't ear the splatter of a bunny getting blown up, instead, I heard something much different. It almost sounded like... wind?
I could feel the wind rushing past me too, it was like I was falling. That couldn't be right though? I opened my eyes to look around me, to try to prove to myself that I wasn't actually free falling through the air like I thought I was. Except I was falling, straight to the ground, and last time I checked I don't have a parachute on. Above in the air was some kind of plane I think, it looked like it was some kind of steampunk blimp or something. There was a small hole in the ship that I could barely see, I'm guessing that's where I fell from.
I was approaching the ground far too fast for my liking, but I was surprisingly calm. Something told me I was going to be okay, I don't know why but I trusted whatever that something was, but it was still a little concerning that I was now only about 200 feet from the ground. Just as I was about to start screaming and flailing around like a banshee, as any sane person would be doing in this situation, I felt something slam into my side.
My head was pushed against a warm surface, I couldn't see anything anymore, but I could tell that whatever caught me was slowing our fall, but considering how fast we were still going, and the fact that I knew the ground was already close, I knew we were still screwed. As we plummeted to the ground I felt kind of bad that I was going to die not knowing what the hell was really going on around me, but I guess that was just my bad luck.
