Her tears that day have been embedded on Zach's head. Those clear blues that slid down her child-like features and those slender fingers that tried to wipe it dry, made him feel her vulnerability.
That moment that he saw Asari come out with Jace from the Rainbow Eye, he somehow felt like he held responsibility to comfort her and to do what he can to make her smile once more. His heart skipped a beat but he attempted to look nonchalant yet concerned.
"Asari...are you alright?"
"I-I'm fine" she hiccupped from too much crying.
"What happened inside there? Did he do anything to hurt you?" He led her to a bench where she sat down.
"No... I was the one who hurt him because I was a liar. I-I..."
Zach took a checkered blue handkerchief from his left pocket and handed it over to her, who seemed surprised with his gesture. "You don't have to tell me what happened, just let it all out. I'll be here."
"Do you feel better now?"
The pig-tailed girl nodded.
He sat down on the bench next to Asari. "You know, I envy Jace."
"Huh?"
"He didn't have to work that hard for the popularity that I strived for, for three years. And he's got someone as cute as you to care enough for him that you would cry like that." Zach spoke.
He gazed at Asari and saw that she was caught off-guard with his sudden sharing.
"W-What're you trying to s-say?"
"It's nothing." Zach smiled. "I'm glad you seem to be feeling better now."
Asari stared at him for the longest time.
"Is there something on my face?" He scratched his cheek with his index finger.
"N-Nope. I didn't know you had t-this side to you."
"Is that so? I can't always be all cool and popular all the time you know." He replied with a huge grin. "Do you feel like falling for me now?"
"Huh? I-I'm... erm..." she was blushing out of embarrassment.
"I'm joking, stop acting all cute like that or I won't be able to stop myself from hugging you; which I know will scare you away, so..."
"I..."
"I'm kidding!" Zach said. "Let's go find the others; I'm sure they're worried."
"O-Okay!"
