The school bell sounded across the rooms and hallways, hordes of students filed out of the classrooms. Uncontrolled volumes of chitchat echoed within the walls of their school. Jace walked briskly and caught up with a classmate.
"Wait, Rosie!" He called out as he swung his knapsack onto his back.
"Huh? Oh it's you, Jace." the brunette shifted her black-framed glasses upwards as she turned to see who called her. "What's up?"
"Well I just thought that you're a girl and—"
"You just noticed? Congratulations then." She cut him off with sarcasm; and crossed her arms in front of her. "If that's all then I have to go now. Unlike you, I am quite a busy person."
"I didn't mean to offend. I mean, I need your help on something. I don't know who to ask about this. My buddy'll laugh at me for sure so I thought to approach the smartest person in class instead."
"Okay, let's say I accepted that as a compliment, what does that have to do with me being a girl and you noticing it only now? What's bothering you? Let's hear it."
"Hang on." Jace reached into his pocket, pulled out the scented paper and handed it over. Rosie's hazel orbs moved left to right. "Don't laugh okay. I just wanna know if you know anyone who'd play a prank on me. It's not cool. I don't know how to get in a girl's head if you know what I mean..." He scratched his head. "It's really bothersome."
Rosie scoffed. "You're definitely inside someone's head... heart, even. I'd laugh really hard if this was from a guy. Anyway, the medium used was something that would denote that it's from a female. However, magazine letter-cutouts mean that the person does not prefer to write things in ink, maintaining anonymity perhaps? It's signed though... Irsa?"
My dearest Jace,
Your smile and kindness has urged me to finally write this letter that expresses my feelings of admiration and joy. I hope that you would not be taken aback by this but rather you would be happy that there is someone who appreciates you. I wish that you will have a happy summer and that your classes will be fun and worthwhile.
Love,
Irsa
"Hmm... if this was a prank, I wouldn't be amused. I suppose it's a good idea to start on this Irsa person though." He snuck the paper back into his pocket.
"You won't be amused? So what if it was really an actual love letter? What will you do then?" Rosie smirked, watching the shocked look on Jace's face; he obviously hadn't thought that far ahead. "With regards to this Irsa, you shouldn't be asking me about this. You should be asking Thelea instead."
"Who's that?"
"Games and books are the only ones that you care about so I'm not surprised that you don't know her... I mean even someone nerdy like me knows her. She's the nosy-body, the queen of all gossip and who's who. She might know this Irsa person."
"Oh, where can I find her then?"
There was a loud jeering in disbelief from the crowd beside them. Jace and Rosie turned their attention on the group of noisy girls standing by the school lounge. In the midst of it was a girl with curly blonde hair and navy blue eyes.
"There she is." Rosie spoke, pointing to the blonde. "If that's all then I need to go now."
"Alright, thanks. I owe you one."
"It's okay. Just tell Zach to call me later or I will slap him senseless if he skips on tutorial again."
"Haha sure, I'll tell him when I see him."
