“Never seen a body before?”I turned around, it was the same person positioned over at the front door, arms crossed.I didn’t budge an inch.“Yeah.”Unfazed he casually walks over and grabs my arm.”We have to leave.”My eyes turn towards the door as a shadow enters.”T-The Door!”Just as I shouted he turns around, withdraws a pistol and fired a point-blank shot at the curious visitor’s head.He turns back to me, yanks my arm and drags me towards the door.Walking right over the dead corpse.Everything ran through my mind, the way that he just casually turned around and executed a shot.Did he know that someone was behind him before I did?
The parking lot is only reserved for officers during nighttime, it’s considered trespassing after a certain hour in Taiwan.Somehow there was an odd blue Yulon parked on the side. Not bothering to ask further questions I climbed inside.
”Did you lose the tag?”
“What?”
“Identification tag, they use it to track prisoners.”
“Number one, I didn’t have enough time. And two, It’s inside my arm.”
“Cut it out then.”
“What?!”He put the car into gear and started driving the car out on the road. All the while his hand fumbled through his pockets.Soon a pocket knife landed on my lap.”Seriously?”.He continued to drive faster.”We have until dawn at most to get out of the grid.Sooner if someone managed to survive or some inmate snitched.Either you do it or I do it.”My eyes widened to the point of bulging.”You’re insane.”There’s no way I would be able to surgically remove a tag from inside of my arm in a moving car of 50 miles per hour.”Fine”.he slams hard on the breaks and pulls the car over to the side.I turned around and saw that we’re in the mountainside roads not a single car for miles. The front car door opened, he was already at my side before I could say another word.
The door opened and he yanks my arm.”What are you doing?!” I tried to pull my arm away, flailing both arms soon turned to kicking and punching. He was holding onto my arms firmly.”Stop struggling, or we’re both going to be here forever.”I stopped, in his other hand was a blade.Just as I did I felt a sharp and searing pain cutting my arm open, I screamed.I felt my heart pounding, breaths deepening intensely. My left arm felt numb, did he sever a nerve? Finally building up the courage to look I saw a red, warm soaked cloth over my arm.” Got it.”He said, holding a thin pill that’s barely visible through the blood. He placed it on the floor and shot it once.”Keep pressing, when we get there.I’ll wrap it up.”My vision starts to blur at this point, I knew to keep the pressure on it but at the moment, I could only obey.
I could only assume that I blacked out after when I opened my eyes the morning light greeted me instead of the dark cover of the car roof.Yet I was still in a car,or so I thought.A paneled window to my left, AC….I was on a soft,white-sheeted mattress. An RV maybe? My eyes wandered to my right,at that moment I froze. There was a rifle on the table, right next to a white plastic bag and several cans of soda.”How’s your arm?”My heart nearly stopped. He was right next to the table, loading his M1911 pistol.”Where am I?”He sets down his gun.”In hiding, don’t worry we won’t be here for long.”I stared at my left arm, it was neatly wrapped in Cotton Bandages.
”How long was I passed out? “
“The entire night, had to lift you here and wrap your wounds. And no,you’re not heavy”.
“Who are you?Why did you help me?”
“Client called me for a retrieval, all I’m going to say is.You’re going home.”
“Who are you?”
“I can’t answer that”
“Why not?I’m going to find out eventually”
“I don’t have a name”.
“Well I'm sure it’s in some database somewhere”
“Give up.”
“Make me.You know who I am, so why shouldn’t I know.”
“You don’t have to.”
“Why not?”
“Because you won’t.Right now I am on the payroll for four million yuan, keep asking and you might just make me walk off with nothing. So don’t press me.”
“You really do kill…”
“You think all of this is just for show?”
I stopped.Putting two and two together, it all means one thing.Four million just to bring me back home, when I don’t even have one.Why would I want to go back, after 7 years why would they want me back now?”Well, you can kill me now.Because I’m not going anywhere.”He picked up his pistol again, taking care to lock the door.”Why?”Seriously?I looked at him this time I was fuming.” They didn’t tell you about that, huh?Because I have the perfect track record for an adoptive daughter who spent 7 years as a black hat and 1 year behind bars”
“No, they didn’t.”
“Not that you care.”
“I can’t.”
“Right.you only listen to your client. How many people have you killed?”
“Why are you asking?”
“Because I’m not going home.So you might as well call off your client or shoot me.”
