"A flower?" Carol asked, as Daryl came into the van.
"It's a Cherokee rose." Daryl told her. "The story is that when American soldiers were moving Indians off their land on the trail of tears the Cherokee mothers were grieving and crying so much 'cause they were losing their little ones along the way from exposure and disease and starvation. A lot of them just disappeared. So the elders, they, uh, said a prayer. Asked for a sign to uplift the mothers' spirits, give them strength and hope. The next day, this rose started to grow right where the mothers' tears fell." He said, putting the flower on the table infront of Carol.
"I'm not fool enough to think there's any flowers blooming for my brother. But I believe this one bloomed for your little girl." Daryl said.
A white flash. It was all just a silly memory.
Carol woke up, lying on the floor. She had no memory of what happened before somehow passed out. She sat up and looked around, seeing nothing and no one besides... Daryl.
She rushed to his aid to see if he was okay. She shook him till he was awake and looking at her.
"Carol?" Daryl asked with slight briskness in his voice. "What happened? You okay?"
Carol nodded. "I'm fine."
"What happened? Where are we?" Daryl asked. So much questions.
"I'm not sure." Carol said, looking up at the cloudy sky.
It looked like it was going to rain, so Carol and Daryl got to shelter quick.
White flash.
“Living on her own like that, she might as well be dead right now,” Daryl heard Richard say.
White flash.
"Memories.." Daryl quietly muttered.
"What?" Carol turned her head to Daryl.
"It's nothin'." Daryl said, turning his head from her.
It began to lightly rain, they had to find shelter soon.
All was quiet besides the sound of walking and rain.
They eventually walked up to a barn. Shelter at last!
They ran in. There were blankets! Daryl ran to get one for each of them.
He handed one to Carol, but Carol refused. "Eh, suit yourself." Daryl shrugged, putting both on him.
Thunder boomed from above as it started to rain heavier. Carol had lit a fire as Daryl found some food supplies of tinned beans and soups.
It was going to be a long night.
