Meanwhile, in a lovely suburban neighborhood just across from Tapperton Avenue, just beyond the local greenhouse, was Melody’s house. The house had a gothic-like exterior and lawn, but that was because the last person who had lived there was considered a vampire by his fellow neighbors. However, the interior of the place was cute, peaceful, and fresh like a spring breeze. Melody was having her weekly book club with a few folks she had befriended from the library a few weeks ago, and could not wait to discuss Catcher in the Rye and A Good Girl’s Guide to Being Bad. An odd choice of books, sure, but when you’re friends with two maniacs such as Jean-Luc and Joey who perform ridiculous actions not of society’s norms, you tend to want to read up on how to act against those who try to bring you down. Melody had the entire place setup, made some tea, and then began to feed her pet snake.
“Aww Sherman,” Melody spoke to her pet, “I can’t wait for my book club. It’s nice to have friends over for a visit.” Melody then kisses her snake’s forehead and continues, “H-hopefully they’ll like the place… and me…” The snake points its tail at a photo of Jean-Luc, Joey, Ryan, Danny, and 100% Julie, and her all in a group photo as if he was asking about them, to which Melody replied, “Oh…. I love them… but I never feel like I contribute to the team… Ryan has nothing except is sly nature… Danny has his weapons and bike, and Julie’s so smart and…” Melody rolls her eyes away and sighed, to which the snake nudged his face on Melody’s cheek, making her stop her rambling and cuddle her pet closer.
“Y-you’re right, Sherman,” Melody stated confidently, “This is a Book Club with friends. Not saving the day. I-I can do this!” Melody puts her pet down back in his cage gently, grabbed her two books, placed them on her lap, cleared her throat and smiled, staring at the pendulum of her grandfather clock as she waited for her library friends to arrive. Melody waited… and waited… and waited….
….and waited….
…..and shuffled around some in her chair….
….and waited….
…..and played with the pages of her book….
….and waited…
…..and played with a Game Buddy she had under her couch….
But then the phone rang. Melody jolted up and quickly answered it with a smile, “Hello?” Only to find that it was her mother calling to ask about her book club.
“Oh, n-no mother, nobody has arrived yet… T-the book? Ehhm... Catcher in the Rye and…” Melody stammered, not wanting to state the name of the other book she had. Her mother stated that Catcher was an odd way to start a book club, but accepted it anyway. She then told her daughter that she had to go because of errands and that they would talk later. After saying their “I love you’s,” Melody hung up the phone and went back to waiting. An hour had passed and nobody had arrived at all yet. It was 3:15 when the meeting was to start at 2:15, leaving Melody with nothing but set chairs, a cold kettle of tea, and some hurt feelings.
“I guess they’re not coming, Sherman…” Melody said glumly, and the snake was saddened as well. Melody went and put her books back on the shelf and was about to go clean up. However, there was a knock on the door. Melody walked over to the door and look through the peephole to find her friends from the library standing by and waiting, although staring a bit oddly. Melody giggled with glee while doing a giddy little dance, but then quickly zoomed and fixed her items and re-brewed some tea, and grabbed her books. She took a deep breath and then answered the door politely, “Greetings fellow friends.” But the three girls just stood silently. Their eyes were locked in a deep stare, and didn’t blink whatsoever... but they marched inside.
“F-friends….?” Melody asked in a worried manner, noticing their stiff movements and blank stares. The third girl, who was about Melody’s height, had a fly wander straight into its eye, but the girl didn’t even blink… not even while the fly tapped and poke its way around the iris and pupil until getting bored and flying away. The stone-faced girl just passed Melody and sat in an available chair. A sweat drop fell down Melody’s head and she cleared her throat and walked inside and shut the door. The living room was quiet… deathly quiet… All the three girls, aside from Melody, could do was just stare down certain items in the living room. A black-haired girl was just staring down a fichus plant while the short, yet stout girl was just creeping its eyes at Sherman, making the poor pet snake huddle into its tiny cave slowly. The tall blonde with her hair tied back was just holding onto a tea cup and staring down the design. Melody notices the tall blonde staring down the cup and was about to politely pour it some tea. But instead of that, the tall blonde just munches down on the cup instead, breaking it apart whilst attempting to swallow it down only to then spit out the shards like bullets and causing Melody to duck behind the chair as the shards cut holes into it. She then looks up from the wreckage shivering in fear.
“I-I’ll t-take that a-as a no….?” Melody shakenly asked. Melody hears a growl and zips her head to the left and sees the short, yet stout girl making a suspicious move to Sherman with a gripped, shaky fist, looking as if she was about to attack the snake. Melody quickly cotched herself in-between the girl and Sherman and said, “What are you doing?! D-don’t frighten him!” However, the shout cause the short, yet stout girl to turn her eyes as black as an alien’s, then immediately grab Melody by the neck and lifted her up, strangling her in the process. The girl then crashed Melody down onto the table and pinned her down. Melody shivered as the girl was just on top of her like that, but it had gotten worse when the other two girls began to turn their eyes that way as well. Just then, the girls’ heads began to shake… as the short girl pinned Melody down, her grip on the poor bunny girl’s shoulders tightened slowly as Melody was only stiff with fear. A green ooze began to bleed out of the girls’ deep, black eyes, forming its way around to the back of the bodies. The ooze then hardened and formed a set of vines to where only it takes control, while the bodies were nothing but vessels... or even…. Zombies… The zombie that pinned down Melody raised one hand and was about to strike, but Melody found her kettle, with tea still hot as fire, and threw it onto the zombie, causing it to lynch back and scream in agony as she grabbed Sherman’s cage and began to run away. Melody ran as fast as she could, only to get SPOOKED when another one of those things busted out of the sewers and attempted to grapple Melody. The bunny girl ducked around it and tried to make way to somewhere safe, but as she kept going, more and more of these infected neighbors upstarted the neighborhood. Women, children, married couples, and even roommates were encircling around Melody. The closer beasts then excrete strong vines out of their hips and sides, then grappled Melody and pushed her and Sherman down. As Melody saw the beast surrounding her, she let out a loud, blood-curdling scream as a crunch is heard, causing everything to fade to black….
