Dinner with the Alpha & beta went well. The alpha invited me back to hang out with him if I got lonely. I wasn’t sure if he had a motive to this but I would totally be vigilant. I crawled out from under my sheets and stretched. The air in the house was chilly and I could smell the scent of snow. I slowly walked down the stairs and into the kitchen for a nice glass of hot cocoa. The clock on the wall read nine am. I slowly walked towards the sunroom well I waited for the kettle to heat up. The snow was a few feet deep, easily two or three feet. I sighed deeply regretting not getting more food when I was at the store before. The kettle went off and I practically ran towards the kitchen. I scooped a few spoons too much hot chocolate into my cup and poured the water in the cup, I stirred it quickly. I walked towards the sunroom again and sat down on the couch that looked out on the yard. The snow shined quite nicely when the sun hit it. I sipped my hot cocoa as I listened to the annoying snowbirds cheap and chatter.
*************
I grumpily stomped out to the car all bundled up in about four sweaters and so much more. The only boots I had dress-up boots, not snow boots. I started the car and waited for it the warm-up before even thinking about driving. The drive to the store was messy and slow for the fear I would wreak my car. I walked across the pavement quickly trying to get out of the cold, I felt my left foot slide and I felt the entirety of my body weight shift. I waited for my body to hit the ground but it didn’t. I opened my eyes and looked around; Darius the Alpha had caught me easily.
“Those so are not the boots for the snow.”
“I wasn’t prepared for snow.”
“Let’s go in and get your groceries and then I’m buying you boots, my treat.”
“Okay, I guess.”
We walked into the store and he walked behind me quietly. I stopped at the fish freezer and grabbed a bunch of salmon and balsa chunks. I then walked to the dairy section and got a lot of dairy products, cheese, yogurt, milk, cream, ice cream. I grabbed a few things from the frozen food section and a few items of the meat section. Casually I walked to the checkout and waited for my turn in line.
“How are you today?” the lady asked.
“Fine, thank you, yourself?”
“I’m …. Hello Alpha Darius.” She said. That’s when I remembered about him.
She finished ringing up my items and I paid for walking out to my car. The alpha snorted in laughter at my car.
“You drove herein that, without snow tires? Gosh, you have more balls then I thought.”
“What do you mean?”
“That car is hardly safe for the snow, we are taking my jeep. I’ll have Sam take your car back home.”
Clearly he wasn’t going to allow me to fight with him on that because he took my keys and set them on the seat and drug me towards a black jeep. He took my bags and loaded them into the back of the jeep then he unlocked the doors. I climbed into his jeep and sat in the seat. The jeep seat was warm and I snuggled back into it. Darius hit a switch on the dashboard and the set got warmer, the lucky wolf had heated seats. Darius pulled out of the parking lot with no issues, his jeep flew through the snow as if it wasn’t there. Slowly as I watched around me I noticed he was driving to my house, no doubt so I could put my food away.
The drive was quiet as I slowly started to fall asleep in the heated seat.
***********
I felt someone shaking me and I looked at him. Suddenly I remembered I fell asleep in his jeep.
“Hi there sleepy kitty, let’s get your food put away so we can get you some proper snow boots.”
We walked up the driveway towards the house, me almost slipping a few times. I unlocked the door and welcomed the alpha inside. He sniffed the air and then cleared his throat.
“Let’s get this put away.”
“Alright. This way to the kitchen.”
The alpha followed behind me as I walked to the kitchen and he helped me put the food away. On the way out the door again I bumped into his back and I couldn’t help but notice how warm he was, my inner kitty wanted to snuggle him.
We got back into the jeep and he waited till I had my seat belt buckled up before he started to drive. Carefully he pulled out of the driveway and drove. The drive to the store was filled with random chit chat about the area. He pulled into a parking spot away from the other cars no doubt not waiting for the other idiots to hit his jeep.
We got out and he locked the jeep. Carefully he helped me walk across the parking lot, once inside we looked around for a good pair of boots.
After a while Darius and I settled on a good pair of boots, they went mid-calf and were black with fur tops. He bought them despite me trying to buy them. As soon as we got back out into the jeep he made me put them on, something about feeling better than I have safe winter boots on.
