After my space had been violated, wolves in my yard, and the scent they left, I was on edge. No way was I going to be calm. It scarred me that the wolves totally knew I was here now. It would only be a matter of time before I found out what they would do with me.
Opening the fridge it was clear that I would need to leave the safety of my house and go shopping. This could go one of two ways, One I would be safe and make it home in once piece, Two I would be eaten and wouldn't come home to my lovely sunroom. That thought alone freaked me out, I already loved that sunroom so darn much. Slowly I drug my feet across the floor to my bedroom and got dressed. I found my wallet and slipped it into my pocket with a deep breath. Everything in me was ready just to starve and forget about food, but there was that other part of me that begged for snacks and junk food. With all my stuff I walked to my car and turned it on, Here comes the fun I suppose.
The drive was relatively easy and painless, the traffic wasn't bad and the drive was peaceful. I drove into the parking lot and parked my car. I got out and hit the lock button before walking into the store. The stares from the masses weren't discrete and made my hair stand up on end. Regardless I was here because I needed to eat as well. I grabbed a basket and walked down the first aisle grabbing milk and cheese as well as yogurt and eggs. I walked down the pet aisle and resisted the urge to buy the ground catnip, however it was good to know they had it if I really wanted it. I continued my shopping until my basket was full and I had gotten everything I needed at the moment. The lady at the till looked at me once clearly taking in my scent before smiling.
"Welcome to the town, I really hope you enjoy it here."
"Thank you, I plan to enjoy it, the best I can."
She rang up all my stuff an I paid biding her a good day. I unlocked my trunk and put my shopping treasures in my trunk. I climbed in the car after closing the trunk and noticed the envelope under my wiper. I slowly pulled it out and opened it.
Dear new feline townsfolk,
You're invited to the home of the ruling alpha for dinner and an introduction. We welcome you to the town and hope you enjoy your stay however long it is.
Tonight at Eight. We hope to see you.
- The Pack.
If that wasn't enough to make my blood run cold I didn't know what was, I was certainly panicked. My heart was racing in my chest and I just wanted the stupid note to just disappear so that I didn't have to deal with it. No way did I want to go to this dinner willingly, no cat in their right mind would. I drove home and parked my car, My neighbours waved and seemed pleased to see me. I was only slightly creeped out, but I waved back. The lady that lived next door began to walk over, I swallowed the lump in my throat and waited for her to make her way over into my yard.
"It's so good to see you outside, I was really worried that because we are all wolves that you would hide away inside your new home."
"I have to admit that I really thought about hiding inside but the thought of starving really didn't please my inner kitty."
"I bet, I would also like the apologies for my boys fighting in your yard, they just came back from training school and didn't realize anyone had moved into the home."
"Oh Gosh, it's more than alright. I told them to take their fighting back to the woods where they wouldn't run my lovely sunroom that I am deeply in love with."
"Oh silly me, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Marla."
"I'm Leo, I look forward to having you as a neighbour."
She let me go and I went inside. That wasn't as bad as I had feared but I knew not everyone would be like her. I packed away my food and thought about going for a walk. the outside beckoned me and I left threw the back door leaving it unlocked. I stripped out of my clothing and shifted. The scents of many wolves made me sneeze because I wasn't yet used to the heavy odours. I jogged threw the forest to a pond that had fish in it. I could see them jumping out of the water after bugs. I wanted them.
I stalked the fish and hunkered down on the bank waiting for a fish to jump. Once one did I launched and tried to grab the fish. I missed. I landed in the water with a heavy splash. The fish seemed to be teasing me by jumping over me and spitting water at me. This caused me to jump around trying to catch them. After catching them failed I started to bat at them with my paws. The scent of wolves filled my nose and I looked around and spotted a large wolf black as midnight peeing on the spot I had peed on before I started hunting the fish. One of the fish decided the bite me and I let out a growl and the wolves that were with the black wolf all noticed me.They all started to race towards the pond and I closed my eyes knowing there was no way I could outrun the wolves.
Death didn't come, but water hit me all over as the wolves jumped into the water and began to play like pups. The large black wolf just sat back and watched them all including me.
