Aspir could feel himself floating in the air, just looking down at the world. The wind gently swaying his hair but his body didn't rock in the slightest, he just floated there.
The kingdom of Melis lay below, a land of verdant green not seen on earth. Many forests, light and dark, dotted across its expanse. Rivers slicing through, meandering with their own destinations in mind. There was more to see than he could truly describe, but in one word it was beautiful. The kind of beauty that would stir your soul and make you feel at peace.
The wind slowly died down and Aspir could feel himself gently drifting down, his body slowly gliding through the clouds. To the east the sun's rays illuminated a vast desert devoid of the lush green of Melis, but sparkling with an incandescent light representing its own fiery life. To the north and south were vast and majestic Mountain ranges, towering into the skies and shadowing all below in its gloomy embrace.
But the west was different, there was no light there. Though the sun may set over the west its rays couldn't penetrate the thick shroud of grey fog covering the land, lying upon it like a sickness. Aspir hoped that his adventures would keep him well away from there, it gave him the impression that something dark and very old was hidden there and should remain left alone.
Aspir could feel his body falling faster now, the wind whistling past his ears causing him to squint his eyes whilst plummeting down. Below was a white dot growing larger. As he got closer he realised that it was Melis Castle, the central hub of Melis kingdom and the players first steps in the world of 'Second Coming'.
Aspir could make out the white walls surrounding the castle city, guards and armaments breaking apart the pure white view. Further in were houses and abodes of the kingdom's citizens. Crowds of people roaming about, like surging rivers from above, from merchants peddling their goods to thieves and rogues plying their trades, truly too many people to count. But standing at the core of all of this was the King's castle. A majestic white castle clad in its regal arms standing for all to see from miles around, and exactly where Aspir seemed to be falling.

<All achievements and rewards that would normally be gained from accessing this area are disabled until player gains their own entry>
<All body functions disabled until further notice>
A flash of light woke Aspir from the game announcements, only to find himself in a large white hall. Red banners ran down the walls, different emblems emblazed onto there fabrics glittering in the light. Torches and braziers hung on the walls whilst globlets of light floated through the air, like a small sea of stars.
More white flashes revealed players being warped in, players of all shapes, sizes and colours. Ranging from tall barbarians with broad backs to slim elves with their unique and tempting figures. Just inside Aspir's range of view he could make out many different kinds of races. A players taste was truly exquisite when it came to character customisation.
"Ahem." A cough from the front, it originated from an old man dressed in the attire of a sophisticated butler. But how did he get there without anyone noticing?
He stood there alone letting all the players look upon him and smiled warmly in exchange. "Hello travellers, my name is Sirien the head butler for his majesty, I apologise for the abrupt entrance." With his sentence finished he issued a deep formal bow before once again standing straight.
"Due to our great king's generosity and virtuous nature we have accepted the Chosen's request to greet you all here in our beloved castle. It is inspiring to see you all, knowing that after many trials and tribulations you will grow and become stronger. Maybe even some amongst you will become hero's saving us from the nightmares of the realm. Sorry, am really am rambling with my old age," once again that warm smile issued forward.
"I am sorry that his majesty cannot be here to greet you himself, thus i will speak in his stead."
....
A moment of silence.
In a deeper almost majestic voice , Sirien raised his head and spoke, "travellers who have joined our world. At a glance it is a fair place with light and joy spread abundantly , but there is a darkness and sickness that continually grows. As more time passes it's reach spreads further. With all my heart i will do my duty and expunge this evil so we can all live our days in the light. But if i should ever need to call on you , then i hope that you will answer. Live well and grow strong , hopefully you will not be needed to combat this darkness."
<You have heard the Kings speech and received chance encounter 'In lieu to a king'>
<If accepted then you may be called upon by the king depending on your future achievements and given a 'Kings request'. Failing may bring misfortune>
<Do you wish to accept?>
Aspir felt conflicted , if he accepted then he may be roped into a situation that he wants no part of, but what were the chances of receiving this offer again after the event ended.
<You have accepted 'In lue to a King'>
"Thank you all for listening to my humble words," Sirien once again bowed. "I will now send you all on your way so that you can begin your adventures , maybe one day i will see some of you again."Finishing with a smile Sirien began to emit a deep azure aura before muttering in a language that Aspir didn't recognise.
<NPC Sirien has begun to warp you from 9th reception hall to Central plaza>
<System Calculation : Resisting warp impossible>
<Transferring to central plaza>
Another flash of light.
<Body functions enabled>
<You have arrived in the central plaza>
<Event 'In lue to a king' Completed>
<Rewards : 1 SXP (Skill Experience Point)>
Blue skies , bells echoing, and flocks of white doves soaring above , this is the central plaza. The main hub of Melis Castle. Shops and stalls spread around flogging there goods to any passers by be they npc or player. Specialised shops and emporiums flying there flags and sign posts to attract the eye and make there intentions clear.
Breathes and gasps of amazement spread around, players astounded by the sheer quality of second coming. Similar shouts of awe followed after as more players were teleported into the central plaza , viewing it for the first time.
What surprised Aspir the most was despite the crush of people, the plaza still maintained it's order with a peaceful overtone. No one was rushing or shoving the other, everyone was just relaxing taking things at there own pace, truly a far sight when compared to life in the real world and his shop where he worked.
"Did you see that view on the way down! IT WAS AMAZING! The feel of skydiving without a parachute!"
"I need to learn how to warp , that old man was so cooool..."
"Gathering party to slay rabbits and practice together."
As the amount of players increase so to do there shouts and cries for companions in arms or for the numbers of the hastily retreating female elves and fairies. The beastmen and barbarians just didn't do it for people, well most people.
Aspir too decided to quickly leave before more people arrived and only made it harder to leave, his first priority was to find a place and gain a temporary reprieve to organise his thoughts and create a plan of action.
Aspir simply followed the main road away from the plaza heading towards one of the city's four main gates, in his case the east one which was closest at the time. On his way he saw npc's interacting and selling goods as well as many players dashing past going for first dialogue or attempting to get quests. To Aspirs surprise a lot of the npcs laughed at players when asking for quests saying they could handle their own problems or sorry grow stronger first.
It would seem that getting quests in this game were going to be harder than usual.
Aspir came across a smaller plaza and park just off the main road, a good place to sit down and plan his next move.
Basking in the sunlight and laying his back on the grass he enjoyed the moment of peace before his no doubt dangerous and frantic adventure.
He knew that he could immediately leave the city and enter the plains to level and defeat enemies, but the game was nice enough to give you a beginner outfit and that was it. No indestructible dagger or money. Just nothing forcing the player to fend for themselves.
So unfortunately Aspir knew that he needed a job. A second job to get himself started on his grand adventure, especially if he wanted to get his hands on any armour and weapons.
Finalising the plan in his head Aspir jumped up from the ground and headed towards a pair of guards, standing just off the edge of the park.
"Sorry to interrupt your patrol guardsmen, may I ask a question?" Aspir used the most eloquent speech he could think of.
"What do you need young traveller?"
"Are there any jobs available that are suitable for a traveller like me?"
The guards looked at each other for a second before sharing a smile and turning back to Aspir, "Well young traveller what can you do?"
Aspir was a bit concerned at the look they shared but didn't think that they would do or plan anything to him as he didn't have anything on him, and they were guards after all.
"Well, I am a beginner in agriculture and alchemy."
The guards once again shared a look "Well I know of a job traveller where you will need both those skills if you want it."
Aspir was growing more suspicious, the constant glances between the guards was starting to make him think that maybe a second job wasn't a good idea. But either that or risk his life on the plains.
"What is the job? What will I have to do?"
"Follow me young traveller and you can find out for yourself." Not giving Aspir a chance to refuse or ask any more questions, the guards gestured him to follow, one in front of him and one behind. He couldn't run even if he wanted too.
The guards led him through the maze of streets behind the districts and houses, thoroughly confusing and disorientating him. Glances from other players gave him querying glances and hushed comments either thinking that he had gotten a quest or been arrested for some misdeed.
"Here we are young traveller," before Aspir was a dark and shoddy door that smelt strangely of the sea, eerily out of place in the otherwise bright and colourful street.
"I'm not sure that this jo...."
"best of luck and tell old Hod that the Boer brothers have sent you," before Aspir was finished talking he had already been shoved through the door, with it being firmly shut behind him.
"...b is for me."
Waiting for his eyes to adjust to the dim lighting, he realised that the store he was pushed into was what seemed to be some kind of back door apothecary.
Small candles flickered on the walls, their light flickering and throwing shadows off the strange trinkets and bottles lining the room. The assortment of goods gave Aspir a weird feeling, almost as if some of them were looking at him, giving the place a very shady feeling.
The only clutter free oasis was around an old desk, where Aspir could see a human shaped lump buried under a mound of aged scrolls and a grime encrusted robe.
What was his job going to be anyway.
Taking care to be as quiet as possible Aspir slowly turned around so he could open the door and escape this strange situation he was in.
Slowly reaching for the door he grasped the handle in his hand and pulled.
...
...
Nothing.
The door didn't budge, it didn't squeak it just kept giving off that slightly salty smell.
Aspir couldn't help but frown, surely this door had to open. Placing both hands on the handle this time he pulled with all he had, slowly increasing his strength until all his muscles were taught.
"AHEM."
A loud cough from behind startled Aspir causing him to let go and fall flat onto his back, banging his head on the stone flooring.
-10HP-
All he could feel was the throbbing from his head, and all he could see was an old shrivelled prune of a face staring down at him. Beady black eyes that were sunk into the face and patchy saggy skin, this was a sight that was definitely going to haunt Aspir for a long time.
The old man continued to stare down at Aspir, watching him motionlessly on the floor.
"HAHA!"
A dry laugh escaped from the old man as he smiled revealing his crooked and blackened teeth.
"So your my new helper. Looks like the Boer brother's haven't let me down, now don't give me that look only people who are allowed can open that door."
The old man's scratchy voice pierced it's way into Aspir's head, making his ears feel painful and sore.
"Now get up and follow me, we've got work to do."
The old man slunk out of Aspir's view leaving him dazed and confused on the floor, only able to hear more of the old man's laughter cackling from further away.
He really wished he had just kept walking to the plains and struggled from there, at least that way he knew what was coming.
"I didn't ask for a carpet I asked for a helper, so stop dusting the floor and get in here!"
Well time to see what his new job was going to be.
