Aspir was tired.
Not physically but mentally. He had been online just over 5 hours now. Normally that would be easy for him, but after witnessing the brutality of 'True Virtual Warrior Training' first hand he just wanted to curl into a small ball and cuddle himself.
6ft 8 was the height of the immensely muscled and ridiculously stern instructor the app had given him. He didn't know her name, her first words were simply 'choose' and 'get ready'. After that came hours of him repeatedly being smashed down into the ground, beaten to a bloody pulp and his masculinity persistently destroyed.
He had chosen the sword and shield as he felt like it suited him, he had slowly improved his techniques when using them as his instructor beat them into his body. If he attacked or blocked incorrectly then her loud bass voice would ring in his ears as she berated him for being an insignificant worm that wasn't man enough to even use a shield properly.
The worst part was that she didn't use any equipment.
But he was still thankful, it may wound him mentally and make him feel drained but he was improving, going back and killing stench a few times proved that all for itself.

Finally Aspir could start his adventure.
[initialising start up 'Second Coming']
Aspir could see himself, or more accurately the image of himself floating in the air.
[Please select your race]
[Race will allow small stat bonuses dependent on choice]
He had several options available from stereotypical races such as human, elf and dwarf, as well as some more interesting and varying choices like the lupines, fairy and kitsune races.
[Selection human confirmed]
[Human race bonus : Player gains one additional skill slot but cannot learn skills from any heritage, ancestral or inter-racial skill trees.]
Aspir's selection may seem boring but he liked who he was and didn't want to change his body or get used to a new one. He especially didn't want any extra appendages flailing around.
[Do you wish to change physical features of your in-game avatar?]
Now this was tempting for Aspir, he could make himself 6 ft 4 with the body of a god and eyes that peer straight into your soul, or stay his average height of just below 6ft and slim but well proportioned build.
As much as he wanted to change, he didn't want to look at himself and not see himself. Though he did change his hair to a black wavy hair and his eyes to an emerald green.
Its the little things.

[Continuing Character skills selection]
[Please choose 10 skills from the following list. Be aware that changes once confirmed are permanent until account deletion]
This is what Aspir loved about games, the feeling as your character grows stronger.
He knew that he needed a good selection of combat and non-combat skills to make himself a well rounded character.
<One Handed Weapons - Unspecialised> Pertains to the accuracy and strength when wielding one handed weapons in or out of combat. When specialized allows further options for single weapon of choice.
<Shields - Unspecialised> Effects the damage mitigation and knockback reduction when blocking attacks. Depends on weight of the shield and innate abilities of the shield.
<Enhanced physique-minor-Unspecialised> Miscellaneous skill that affects physical activity and stamina depletion. May affect combat in some situations. May unlock specialisation through actions performed.
<Meditation-minor-Unspecialised> Miscellaneous skill that effects players regeneration of mana and health to a lesser degree. Cannot be paired with mana meditation or resurge meditation.
Resurge meditation being specialised meditation for players who focus solely on physical and not magical skills, vice versa with mana meditation.
<Medium armour> Effects damage mitigation and movement speed penalty when wearing medium armour. Effects depend on innate skills of armour and style of the armour. Will effect mage related skills.
<Heavy armour> Effects damage mitigation and movement speed penalty when wearing heavy armour. Effects depend on innate skills of armour and style of the armour. Will effect mage related skills.
Aspir went for a selection of the two armour trees as he wanted to have a selection of armour that he could mix and match and play with as he please. Whilst light armour offers him more mobility he wasn't concerned as the shield would slow him down anyway.
This summed up Aspirs combat role as a hybrid of defence or attack depending on which he preferred for the situation. Now was for choosing some support skills.
<Agriculture-Beginner> Description: Effects the player's ability in regards to planting, harvesting and processing plants and herbs. Only beginner skills currently available.
<Alchemist-Beginner-Unspecified> Description: Grants the player beginner alchemist skills.Only beginner skills available.Skill currently classified as unspecified alchemist.
Whilst blacksmithing was tempting he didn't know anything about the making and maintaining of weapons, whilst alchemy sounded more fun and intriguing.
Two choices left.
<Heavy steps - Beginner> Miscellaneous skill that effects player load and movement speed.
<Equipment enhancement - Beginner - Unspecified> Allows the player to imbue mana into a weapon to effect performance. Effects differ upon application.
With this Aspir's base skills were all set. He could now charge around whack things with a sword, whilst potentially becoming a hero or more than likely a somewhat dark and shady character as somehow no matter how hard he tried it always seemed to happen.
[Skill selections confirmed]
[Skills will now require SXP to learn and upgrade new or current skills]
[One skill slot remaining]
[Please enjoy the lands, skies and seas of 'Second Coming' as you adventure and find yourselves again.]
