“Aliyah.” His voice boomed. I wince and look up at him.
“Yes father?” I ask as I kneel before him, my hands and feet bound by a thick silver chain. He looked down at me from his thrown, his eyes full of sorrow.
“I trusted you Aliyah. I trusted you to do one simple thing and you failed me.” He leaned back in his chair, “You know what I must do Aliyah.” I nod and look down. What happened wasn’t my fault; I mean it was but not the destruction. I thought what I was doing was right; it was going to help our people. If only my brother hadn’t interfered.
“I love you Aliyah.” He said. I looked up, “You are my favorite son and I hate to banish you.”
“I know father, you have told me many times.” I look down, “I never meant to harm our family and I am willing to except the terms of banishment.” He sighed and rose from his chair; he placed his hands on my head.
“I will see you in time my son.” And those are the last words I heard before everything went dark.
I woke up falling. My wings burning around me and the wind whipping past my face. I tried so hard to grasp the memories of what I was but they left me just as quickly as they came. I’m met with a searing pain as my body collides with the ground. I cry out, scream even. For anyone to help me. I screamed until my voice was gone and I was coughing blood. I was exhausted, but I couldn’t sleep. I needed help. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t stand, I couldn’t yell. I was hopeless. Was this the fate my father had condemned me to? Were my final moments in a hole? My eyes flutter; I can’t feel my body anymore. My remaining strength leaves me as the darkness overcomes me.
