The expectant queen was waiting for the coming birth of her child. There was not much to keep her mind at rest as she waited in the room impatiently. Everything depended on the birth of what was within her womb. Most of the doctors and soothsayers had all assured her it was to be the longed for male heir.
She had great reasons to believe it would be strong and long lived too with how forcefully it moved and kicked within her. She had no doubt that all would go well as promised.
All preparation had been made most carefully and to perfection in advance. The letters announcing the birth were already written and ready, giving thanks for sending ‘good speed, in the deliverance of a prince.'
She was surely confident that all would be well soon enough. She had taken to her chambers only a fortnight ago. She now dwelt within a world of women only to attend her. No man was allowed. Just her and her ladies in a dark and but splendidly furbished room. All the walls were covered with tapestries, embellished with silver and gold threads, in the repeating floral designs. The richest carpets were thickly laid on the floor under her restless feet. Some light beamed into the room from one small window, overlooking the beautifully laid out labyrinth of the palace gardens. A part of her longed to be out again and walk through them once more, with the king like before.
Below she could see the children running about and playing in it now. She hoped she would have many children who could do the same.
She'd sacrificed so much to have just this one.
there is no guarantee that all will go well when dealing with tricky faeries. just like any classic fairy tale, a wish is made and granted. however a price of some form must be paid or deal with the consequences there of you aren't clever enough to get out of trouble.
