December 9, 2059- New York, New York. NYPD HQ.
The floor is relatively vacant because there are several units responding to a violent mob in Queens.
Officer Ricci informs Officer Jessy of Captain O'Sullivan's hail.
Jessy knocks and enters O'Sullivan's office.
O'Sullivan: Ah, Jessy, I need you and Antonio to grab anyone left on the floor and head down to Queens. It's getting dangerous.
Jessy: O-oh... yes, right away, sir.
Jessy exits.
O'Sullivan turns to Officer Manne.
O'Sullivan: Good you're back. What did the mayor say?
Manne: Well... sir, the mayor is gone.
O'Sullivan: Gone... what do you mean gone?
Manne: He has been taken by the virus, sir.
O'Sullivan: ...
Manne: The same with his wife.
O'Sullivan: Wait, I thought the virus only affected people who are not in love. Does that mean the rumor was true? He was having an affair?
Manne: It seems like it... what are we going to do? The mob keeps getting bigger and its the third this month. ITS ONLY THE NINTH! Sir, if this gets any worse, this entire half of the state will be gone- taken by the Resistance.
O'Sullivan: I know. I reckon our only chance is that they'll stop out of the blue like they have the last few times. For now, I want you to catch up to Jessy and Antonio, see if you can help in any way.
Manne: Yes, sir.
Manne catches up with Jessy, Antonio, and the rest of the officers on deck.
Jessy; Oh- h-hey Manne, are... you coming as well?
Manne: Yep, Caps orders.
Antonio: Good, Ricci got a call a few minutes ago, the people are getting savage.
Jessy: ...
Antonio has been with Jessy long enough to know why she's silent. She's afraid. She sympathizes with the infected. Of course, those who are infected are still some what sane. Its just they are blinded by a pseudo cause. The source, what ever it may be, drives them like minions. Most of the time its random. One minute they're just fine, the next they're throwing Molotov cocktails. Then, when the episode is done, they go back to what they were doing- acting like civil humans. They still are bound by the need to overthrow the system, just sometimes it gets out of hand.
Jessy, Antonio, Manne, Ricci, and the other officers arrive to the site. It looks as though the riot has stopped. The mass is dissipating and some of the officers look grim.
Officer kook, leader of the fifth unit, approaches to explain the situation.
Kook: ( he nods to each person he addresses) Ricci, Manne, Antonio,... Jessy.
Jessy: Kook. Status?
Kook ignores her. Its not because she's a girl. He finds her unworthy of an officers title.
Kook: Manne, Sir, this has been by fare the biggest group yet. However, just like the others, no casualties. Unless you count Marge's foot being hit, no officer was damaged.
Antonio: Of course its a casualty, look at how much she's whining. I can hear her from here.
The guys laugh and mock. Jessy doesn't. She knows what its like to be slandered. She leaves the huddle. No one notices. No one, except Antonio.
Antonio has always looked out for Jessy. But, she doesn't notice.
He's in love with her. Has been for a long time. He'll do anything for her, but deny it so. Its unconditional but unnoticed. Will she see it?
