"The lady wanted the gentleman for herself, since she was the only one without a significant other. After all, it didn't seem fair for the others to have something she wanted.
The gentleman, however, only sought for the lady as a collector's item, as he had everything but wanted more.
And yet the two, born of the same sin, were a perfect match, for one could not live without the other.
Surrounded by universal lights, the artist captured the two in a portrait, and left, unnoticed."

Envy and Greed are two of the Seven Deadly Sins, the others being Pride, Gluttony, Lust, Sloth, and Wrath.
I slightly based the pair's colors on the Seven Deadly Sins series from Vocaloid (mostly the gentleman, since Kaito represented greed and he's blue).
The sin Envy and Greed were born from refers to the Original Sin, where the first man and woman disobeyed God by eating of the forbidden fruit, which was represented to be an apple. The serpent tricked the woman first into eating it, leading to the woman convincing the man to eat it.
(Just a small thing, but those round things are supposed to be the sun and the moon because why not)
