"As an appreciation gift, the artist presented the small crowd with their fate, inside it the means of change. Even if it's a small bit of attention, the artist will gladly stay within the cage, unable to leave. And once more the narcissistic artist vanished."

You're probably familiar with the whole "red string of fate," where it's supposed to connect you to your soulmate. While the other butterflies seen are attached to it and freely flying, one is trapped in a red cage. Perhaps the only person that loves them is them alone.
The Butterfly Effect believes that even the smallest thing, like the flap of a butterfly's wings, can cause change to fate.
Some cultures associate white butterflies with death. However, they also symbolize a turning point in life.
The cages are partially based on a song called "Jailbreak." There are various covers for this song, but this one is pretty good if you're interested (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUK6o3DH4B8)
