Day 8: Andi slowly blinked her eyes open. Did she fall asleep? What time was it? She spaced for a few minutes until it dawned on her. She was in a clock shop for Christ's sake! Andi blushed a little and checked the time. It was noon. "It's so boring!" She whispered.
Suddenly her uncle came from back of room and started yelling at her, "God damn it Andi! Don't tell me I'm paying you to nap!"
Andi yawned, "Uncle Andrew, you hardly ever pay me at all... it's a miracle I still come here to help you out."
Andrew grumbled, "That's because no ever comes around! Just you wait! One day some poor soul's alarm clock will break and they'll come running! And when they do we will be swimming in money!"
"I doubt it." Andi thought. The main reason no one came around was due to Uncle Andrew's endless complaining. Andi learned to zone him out like the rest of the annoying noise, but most of the town didn't know how to do that. He grouched about every little thing and pissed off everyone, especially the neighborhood children. The children knew how cranky he was and liked to prank him. Andi couldn't help to smile when Uncle Andrew's rant went from money issues to his eternal hatred for the pranksters.
"You want to know what those little pests did last night? They blasted off fireworks on my roof! MY ROOF! It almost caught on fire! I could have died or lost my business! I swear this generation of kids have no respect for the elderly! Except for you! You Andi are the only sane kid I know!"
"If only you knew..." Andi thought. Andi wished she was cool and brave enough to set this place on fire. She wanted to find the kids and give them all high fives. At least they gave her a little spark of excitement in her life.
