When we landed I found myself in shackles! I wasn't a guest! I was an enemy! I was taken to an arid and dry land, a desert and housed in a hangar. There people yelled at me in a language I didn't know and accosted me of crimes I couldn't have committed! I cried. I yelled back! When we were at an impasse, when they had given up on me, and I had given up on them, I sang the Beatles and Elvis and Frank Sinatra and they knew the songs! After that they brought a Han woman and I could talk with her. She spoke my language, but it was so different sounding! She told me of a cultural revolution and that the dynasty had ended ages ago. The old ways were gone and I didn't know if I should be sad or glad about it, but I am so removed from the changes of men, that I felt nothing.
The woman brought little relief. I was still the prisoner of these Americans. I was at my wit's end, but the chinese woman whispered to me in secret during an interrogation: "Wait for her, she'll save you. Just wait." Sure enough, she appeared dressed lavishly like an aristocrat from a foreign land. She was all white against the bleak gray of the hangar. Her hair was wild, cut short and bouncy. She had an arrogance in her eyes. A smirk on her lips and with a flick of the wrist she freed me from my iron prison. She told me her name, it was Kamiko, but I know that this is a lie."
