Inside Eos’s Office
We each took a seat in the office as Lady Eos reached in her desk’s drawer to retrieve six scrolls. She handed each of us a scroll and instructed us not to open it. “It’s very important that your follow these instructions to the tea,” she remarked.
We each held our respective scrolls in the palm of our hands and without being told, each of us closed our eyes and began to syncopate our breathing.
“Now that your eyes are closed, repeat after me: ‘Guide mine pen o’ mana of plenty, reveal with light, thine magical affinity’,” Lady Eos instructed.
The younger children squirmed and fidgeted as they did their best to remember the chant, however I remained silent and continued to channel the mana throughout my body. I slowly opened my eyes and began to recite the incantation.
“Guide mine pen o’ mana of plenty, reveal with light, thine magical affinity.”
The scroll levitated in the air; while suspended, sand began to pour out of the scroll; as the scroll lifted higher, more sand poured out; eventually the scroll itself turned into sand.
Eos stood up and walked to the pile front of me; she reached in the sand and pulled out another scroll to everyone’s surprise.
“It looks like someone is a Sand Mage; Signature Grade D...” She began to read the stats on the scroll.
The younger children’s eyes widened as the Head Mistress read off my affinity. They tried to concentrate again to see if they could gain the same results. Iniko and Minerva on the other hand, nodded their heads and follow my exact incantation.
As the two focused their mana, their scrolls began to float. Minerva’s scroll started to change colors from it’s initial sand yellow to pitch black, while Iniko’s scroll, however, began to fold in on itself several times; Lady Eos took note of the boys scroll.
Meliodas, Monspeed, and Renata continue to channel their mana into the scroll. Meliodas’ scroll begins to rapidly spins, creating a massive gust of wind, while both Renata and Monspeed’s scroll starts to glow harshly before bursting into flames.
After the demonstration, Lady Eos gave each of us our affinity assignment: Minerva had a shadow affinity, Monspeed and Renata both have a heat signature, Meliodas has an affinity for wind, while I inherited our father’s Sand Signature. Iniko, however, displayed a signature not even Lady Eos was familiar with.
“Each affinity has the chance to evolve and grow into something far greater than what is presented,” Lady Eos began her mini lecture. “For example, if you take a look at this area here on the scroll, it will show you the evolution tree for your Signature.” She reached for my scroll to read my evolution tree, “You see here, majority of Signatures will have at least one evolution branch, Myrlin, you have-,” Lady Eos loss her train of thought after taking a look at my evolution tree, she didn’t say anything, just looked at me with complete terror. “Wait a minute... Jade, has Lord Chronos used Presence Sense on these children?”
Jade snickered, “Oh yeah! That’s why they’re here!”
Lady Eos activated Presence Sense and her eyes widened in horror. She didn’t stop with me however, she looked at each of us in front of her, including, Boudica and Renata has a frightening amount of mana she saw. The door suddenly flew open and one of Lady Eos’ subordinates rushed in and examined the area. He too activated Presence Sense and violently gagged. Lady Eos regained her composure and dismissed her guard; she shuffled some files on her desk and pulled out six sheets of paper and scribbled a message on each page. “Well, there’s no mistaking it, you’re definitely Lord Chronos’ children. These are your homeroom assignments. While you’re here, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your magical abilities and to prepare you for the prestigious Avalon Academy!”
We each read the paper Lady Eos handed to us, Minerva and Iniko huddled around me to see what class I’d be in, I looked at the file and it was marked with 1-B. Minerva, Iniko and Renata each flip their papers over and the same class assignment was marked on theirs as well. Monspeed and Meliodas look at their forms and see they belong in class 1-A.
“Wait!? We’re not all in the same class?” Monspeed asked with a look defeat.
Lady Eos gently nodded her head, “The reason you are separated is due to the magic potential each of you display. If I have you all in the same class, it will create a power gap within the student body...” She stood from her desk with grace, “Well that’s enough chatting for now. Come, I’ll show you to the dormitories!”
Lady Eos guided us out of her office and through the school’s long hallways. On the way, I marveled at all the vintage and ancient art that is displayed.
We eventually arrived at the dorms and Lady Eos opened the door. The dormitory looked like an elegant palace, with golden trim on the walls and staircase. The light from the outside sun peers through the crystal clear windows, creating a mirage of dancing diamonds.
“To your left is the boy’s dormitory and the right is the girl’s,” Lady Eos claps. “We have a New Student Orientation tomorrow morning, and I expect you all to attend. Until then, get settled into your rooms, you’ll find your assignments on the same paper with your classroom number.”
We were all giddy with excitement to receive our new room assignments, before we ran off, we gave our goodbyes to both Boudica and Jade.
Iniko and I open the door to our room and see two large beds sitting side by side. With devious grins, each of us pounced on our respective beds and began unpacking. Elsewhere, in Meliodas and Monspeed’s room, the two boys fought to see which brother will sleep next to the window. Lastly, Minerva and Renata bond over being the differences in their abilities.
Later that Evening
We all met in the dining hall, and saw students of all walks of life. Majority of the student population is made up of High-Ranking Demons and Elves, however, there is considerable amount of demihuman races, such as: Slimes, Dwarves, and Beastmen. There was table in the center of dining hall that we decided to sit and meet our fellow students.
An elf student asked to sit with us “Yeah- you can sit with us!” I responded.
The elf student joins us and before they could sit down, the elf Minerva sucker punched and his entourage pulled the student's chair away, causing him to fall and spill his food everywhere.
The three bullies erupt in laughter, much to my group’s disapproval; Minerva abruptly stood to her feet with rage in her eyes, “Looks like someone didn't learn their lesson from earlier today...”
The elf bully laughed nervously and raised his left hand to reveal his Party Emblem, “Let's see you try to land that sucker punch again...”
