Two Years Later
It’s been four years since I was reincarnated into this world and I’m noticing that I kind of resemble what I look like when I was a human. Weird, I kinda look like I did when I was in my old life. Well, I am only four, so there is no way of telling what I'll look like when I get older...
I clap my hands together, maybe I'll look like my dad! He has the look of someone that is cool and suave and if you underestimate him-, I thought while jumping into a crouching tiger pose.
“Need I say more?”
Let’s see if I’ve gotten better at using Stasis... I take a deep breath and exhale slowly while closing my eyes.
As I exhale, I slowly open my eyes, they feel warm, but not uncomfortable. I take look in the mirror and notice that my eyes changed colors, they went from a deep dark brown to a brilliant golden color and the ambient mana swirls in a vortex around me, as if I were the nucleus. I look at my arms and face and see some interesting tribal- like marking. They too, also emitted the same radiance as my eyes.
I looked around my room and saw that the room is still as saturated as it was the first time, I used the ability. I guess the color thing is always going to have a washed-out look.
30 Seconds Passes
A few seconds in the real world passes and my head immediately started pounding. I grab my temples and wince in pain. The room’s color begins to deepen, and the pace of the world begins to pick up to its initial speed.
“It seems I can still do this time stop ability Gramps was talking about a few years ago; looks like roughly around 30 seconds is my current max...”
I close my eyes once more and the harsh golden glow from my eyes softens to its original dark brown and the markings begin to fade away.
No matter, what's most important, I can speak easier now, which makes getting what I want a breeze, I think grinning to myself.
Suddenly, Minerva and Monspeed burst into my room, racing with each other.
I immediately start chasing the two and catch Monspeed by the collar. “Explain, now!”
Monspeed starts to tremble, “We're racing and your room was a short- cut and - “
I look over at Minerva, who shrugs her shoulders. I roll my eyes and take a deep sigh.
I let my younger brother go and motions to the two to come in closer.
“Let's make a promise, no matter what, we'll never let anything come between us.”
Monspeed sniffles and looks at my with his giant puppy dog-like eyes.
“C'mon, Speed! I need you to be a big boy! We're supposed to be big bros for Meliodas and Baby Bo!”
“Big bros!” Monspeed sniffles; Minerva rolls her eyes again. “Speed, don't be such a crybaby!” Minerva snaps.
We each start to snicker, and I begin chase my bratty siblings out of my room.
Monspeed runs pass Minerva; the twins share a laugh and continue to run down the hall; Monspeed turns the corner and is halted by a butler with a wispy goatee and a harsh scowl.
The butler is accompanied by our father, who crouches down to meet the two at face level.
“How are my energetic children today?” He asks with a beaming smile on his face.
“My Lord, we have other pressing matters to attend to,” the butler says with a sour attitude; Chronos scoffs.
“Surely, I should have enough time to spend with my kids, wouldn't you say Shinar Jasper?” Chronos asks with a nervous smile; Shinar Jasper rolls his eyes.
“I suppose so, if you insist, Lord Chronos. But please, we are on a timed schedule,” Shinar Jasper scoffs.
“We are on a "Timed Schedule,” Chronos mocks while rolling his eyes.
Shinar Jasper sighs deeply and pinches the bridge of his nose, “If not for your bloodline, I'd make quick work of that mouth of yours... Lord of Time is a position that needs to be cultivated properly, and unnecessary leisure does not fit in that process.”
“Shinar Jasper, relax, the prophecy states after two generations the curse will be lifted. Thanatos and I have already crunched the numbers and we are that fable generation. The only thing I'm concerned with is making sure Avalon is a safe place to raise mine and Twyla's children...” Chronos exclaims “My duties aren't going unnoticed, but as a father, these little ones are my priority,” Chronos says as he hugs his kids before the two run away to continue to play.
I stay behind and approach Shinar Jasper with a questioning face. “Father, who is this?”
Shinar Jasper snaps his attention to me, geez this guy needs to take a chill pill.
I flinched.
“He takes after your father, I see,” Shinar Jasper states while addressing my father.
“This is Shinar Jasper, he is The Overseer,” father explains. “He was your grandfather's right hand and now he overlooks the business me and the other Asura Lords take care of. Now run along, he and I have something important to discuss.”
“Okay, father... A pleasure to meet your acquaintance.”
I took a page from all the fantasy shows and books I read in my former life and bow before leaving to chase after my siblings.
“I'd keep a watchful eye on that boy. He's emitting a dangerously potent presence,” Shinar Jasper warns Chronos who brushes off Shinar Jasper's warning; he stands to his feet.
“Are we going to talk business or are you going to keep giving me unwanted warnings?” Chronos asks impatiently. Shinar Jasper responds by giving Chronos an irritated look.
“If those children are your main concern, then you should probably heed my warnings about Myrlin, and the future of all Shangri-La, let alone Avalon,” Shinar Jasper continues.
Chronos sighs deeply, “suppose you're right, and the curse isn't broken, am I supposed to let my children take my place?”
“The situation is not favorable for me either, mind you. But as an Overseer, I can tell when a Lord's work is not complete; especially when said Lord's own son has a presence far deadlier than any previous Lord, and I'm speaking for every previous Lord, not just for your bloodline,” Shinar Jasper explains. “I am asking, not as your Overseer, but as your father's first subordinate, please consider a course of action, just in case you and Lord Thanatos are mistaken...”
Chronos exhales once more, “Okay... I'll entertain the notion, just this once. Besides, if he is what you claim, then my fate is inevitable.”
“You catch on quick,” Shinar Jasper smirks.
Chronos rolls his eyes, “shut up... I guess finding a suitable magic institute would be one of my first tasks.”
“Perhaps the Caliburn Institute for Gifted Mages and after graduation, the illustrious Avalon Academy; Lord Second did enroll you in both schools himself and you turned out, well "Okay," I suppose,” Shinar Jasper states while clearing his throat.
“Ah ‘Legacy Students,’ the closes thing to a celebrity these kids will ever experience,” Chronos says with a look of bliss on his face, while Shinar Jasper gives him a puzzling face.
“Ramble another time... I suggest enrolling all of them when they become of age,” Shinar Jasper snaps, “even if you are correct, it would do the young ones some good...”
Chronos looks up, smiling, “perhaps you're right...”
Manor Courtyard
The manor my siblings and I live in has courtyard with wide variety of lush and other worldly vegetation and trees with canopies that eclipse even the brightest of days. This is probably one of my favorite places in the entire house. The environment has a therapeutic air about it and can calm the angriest of fiends.
Minerva and Monspeed are having some sort of standoff in the middle of the courtyard; Minerva points at her twin brother and has a fire in her eyes.
“Your time has come, Fiend,” she yells out to her younger twin brother.
“You'll never catch me,” Monspeed screams as Minerva sprints towards him.
Suddenly, while Minerva is in mid-pursuit, a woman in a white gown and crimson-ash colored hair steps between the twins, facing Monspeed. The woman turns around and looks at Minerva; she places two fingers on her forehead and a small ball of light flashes, causing her to pass out.
The woman directs her attention to my brother and proceeds to pick him up.
Monspeed was in complete awe at the woman's strange beauty; upon closer examination, he could see she has small scales on the sides of her face and neck, however, he is not able to make out any other features on the woman. It appears her hair has a smoke-like aura emitting from it and gives off the smell of sulfur and brimstone.
Monspeed's eyes start to water from the intense heat coming from the woman.
She looks down at the child and smiles. Although the mysterious woman has an intimidating presence, she looks at Monspeed as if he were her own child. She places her left hand on the crown of his head.
“Perhaps this child will be compatible with this blessing,” the strange woman says; Monspeed continues to admire the woman’s beauty.
Corridor
Back inside the manor, I was walking down the corridor to the courtyard with my father’s twin brother, Aether.
“You see MyrMyr, each Dragon is special in this world. However, there are very few that can call themselves a Dragon Lord,” Uncle Aether tells me with a gentle smile, I look at the man with interest.
“Are you one of those Dragon Lords, Uncle Aether?”
He sighs deeply and softly shakes his head, “Some could say that, but I'm just a humble bumpkin from the South - wait, am I really having this conversation with a four-year-old?!”
All I could do was shrug my shoulders, I don’t know man, haven’t you ever met a curious kid? “I'm smarter than I look, y'know?”
We make our way to the courtyard and stop dead in our tracks at the sight of the woman holding Monspeed and an unconscious Minerva beside them.
I quickly look in Aether's direction, but he's nowhere to be found. I then snap my attention back on the woman holding my baby brother and see Aether has instantly appeared beside the woman.
Aether places his hand on the ground and a shadow races toward Minerva and engulfs her; the shadows dash next to me and Minerva rises from the shadow.
“Keep her safe,” Uncle Aether directs. “Take her inside and go get your father, I'll focus on your brother and that woman...”
I nod my head and take her inside the manor.
Aether teleports to the woman again and faces off with her. Aether quickly teleports behind the woman; she expects his attack pattern and vanishes right before Aether completely materializes. It appears the mysterious woman is copying Aether's spell.
Aether continues to chase the woman for a while and the two come to a stop; the two stare each other down.
The woman's demeanor changes and her once calm expression slowly morphs into one of complete madness and lunacy.
“Your time will soon come, False Space Lord... For now, heed this warning, this generation's Lords will fall by the hand of Chaos...!” She yells out as mana and aura around her rages like a forest fire.
Aether looks at the woman and then down at his shadows; his shadow starts moving towards the woman as if it were being sucked in by a vacuum.
Aether then forms hook-like tendrils to latch on to his shadow; suddenly, his older brother, Chronos suddenly appears alongside him.
“Getting yourself killed, as always,” Chronos chuckles.
Father closes his eyes and quickly opens them revealing the same golden eyes that I have whenever I uses my Time-Stop ability. Uncle Aether does the same, however, his eyes change to a deep
purple color, “And the Keeper of Time is late, as usual” he rebuttals. The two brothers stand facing the immense presence the woman is emitting.
“Time and Space, I'll bend thee to my will,” the woman cries out.
The woman reaches her hand out to form a spell while the two brothers brace themselves for her attack.
