Dream Without Beginning or End
I don’t clearly remember how this dream began or how it ended. What follows is a single narrative, fragmented into scenes that intertwine as if floating without a defined timeline.
Scene I – The New Job
It was in the afternoon, perhaps after a nap. I was starting a new job. A guy, a co-worker, was guiding me through the facilities. The place was small but cozy and reminded me of the kindergarten I attended as a child. Upon entering, to the left, there was an area that looked like a waiting room. Directly ahead, a hallway extended into the back. On the right side of the hallway, several offices lined up; between their doors, the walls were filled with bookshelves. The lights weren’t on, but a soft, magical light from outside —without a clear source— gently illuminated everything.
After the tour, without having even started working, we took a break. We walked through a plaza for a while, though I can’t remember the details. When we came back, the atmosphere had changed: there were more co-workers, we chatted a bit, and then someone announced another break. “Again?!” I exclaimed, surprised.
The waiting room had transformed: it was darker now, and there were mattresses on the floor. Some employees were sleeping soundly. It all seemed strange to me. I decided to leave through a side door, but to do so, I had to walk between the mattresses. Suddenly I remembered I had forgotten something and turned back, then resumed my way to the exit. At that moment, I noticed a woman sleeping with her head hanging off the mattress, right in the only free path. For some reason, I was also in my underwear. Embarrassed, I carefully lifted my legs and stepped over her head, trying not to wake anyone. As I exited, I looked back, confused. Everything felt surreal. And then… everything faded away.
