The Rise of the Tower and the Awakening of the Soulborne

Long before the kingdoms rose and steel ruled the world, the fabric of existence was woven by a force known as the String. A network of invisible threads stretching across all of reality, the String was the lifeblood of creation, the very foundation of the universe itself. It pulsed with power, shaping everything from the smallest leaf to the largest star.
From the String emerged the Crests—nine ancient marks, each tied to one of the primal forces of nature. These forces were the elements of the String, each one a thread woven into the fabric of the world. And those who bore these Crests were not mere mortals—they were the Soulborne, beings capable of manipulating the raw threads of existence itself.
The Nine Crests:
Water – Flowing, adaptable, and unyielding. The bearer of the Water Crest could command the tides, summon storms, and shape the flow of life itself. Emotion and intuition guided them, as water flows to the heart.
Flame – The primal force of creation and destruction. The bearer of the Flame Crest could wield fire as an extension of their will—burning cities to the ground or lighting the path to rebirth.
Stone – The embodiment of strength and endurance. Stonebearers were as unyielding as the earth itself, capable of shaping the land and withstanding the hardest blows. They were the guardians of the world’s foundation.
Time – The rarest of the Crests, granting the bearer glimpses of past, present, and future. Timebearers could manipulate the flow of time itself, but their power came with great risk. To tamper with time was to unravel reality.
Light – Radiance, healing, and truth. The Lightbearers could illuminate the world, banishing darkness and revealing hidden secrets. Their power could heal, but it also exposed the truth, no matter how painful.
Shadow – Silence, deception, and fear. Shadowbearers could bend darkness to their will, moving unseen and striking without warning. Their power thrived in the absence of light, manipulating the unseen and the unknown.
Wind – Speed, freedom, and precision. Windbearers could move faster than thought itself, outrunning arrows, leaping impossible heights, and striking with swiftness that defied the laws of nature.
Spirit – The connection between flesh and soul. Spiritbearers could commune with the dead, sever curses, and manipulate the unseen forces of life. They bridged the gap between the living and the dead, understanding the deepest truths of existence.
Void – The rarest, most powerful, and most dangerous of all. The Void Crest granted its bearer the ability to wield the powers of all the other eight Crests. The Void was the absence of everything—an emptiness that could consume all. Those who bore the Void Crest were both creators and destroyers, their very existence a paradox. The Void was said to consume its bearer, leaving only the Crest itself behind. There could only be one Void Crest bearer at a time, and when one was chosen, the others faded into obscurity.

The String is the unseen force that holds the world together, and the Crests are its tangible manifestations. Each Crest represents a distinct thread within the String, and the Soulborne are those who can tap into and manipulate these threads. The Void Crest, with its unique ability to harness all the threads of the String, is the most coveted and dangerous of all.
As the Wraithborn swept across the lands, the awakened Soulborne gathered. Their elemental might, once whispered of in myth, now stood as the realm’s lone defense against the overwhelming tide of darkness. The Tower, with its mysterious origins and otherworldly gates, had not only signaled the coming of calamity—it had breathed life into ancient power, beckoning the Soulborne to rise and reclaim a world teetering on the brink of oblivion.
Ashen Crest is a high-fantasy adventure where ancient swords whisper, forgotten gods stir, and one cursed soul walks the line between salvation and ruin.
In a world fractured by war and haunted by echoes of power, Kael—an outcast marked by the mysterious Obsidian Tower—must rise from the ashes of obscurity to face forces older than the realms themselves.
With blade in hand and shadows at his side, destiny is no longer a path… it’s a reckoning.
