The more she interacted with Anastasia’s parents, the more uneasy she became. She felt she had usurped Anastasia’s place in this world. She wondered if her parents missed her as much as Anastasia’s parents missed their daughter.
She wished she knew how to return to her world. However, seeing Anastasia’s mother in tears, she could only comfort the older woman until she fell asleep. It was an odd feeling. Rationally, she knew that this world was fake, but the emotions were real.
Anastasia’s scar was real. Her mother’s tears were genuine. The pain she experienced while seeing her cry was palpable. It was a profound sense of sympathy, but another part of her felt a deep regret for having caused that pain.
She couldn’t respond to find some words of solace for that woman, and soon the moment passed. She could only offer her her lap for her to rest. Anastasia stared outside of the carriage into the forest lined with trees.
Wouldn’t it be easier to flee and escape into the wilderness?
She hated lying to these innocent people. She was also afraid of escaping. She felt that if she were to escape from her parents’ home, it would result in her death. Worse, every time she wanted to escape, her heart would race, and she would feel like vomiting. The more she tried to escape the plot by running away, the worse she felt.
However, she never experienced the same symptoms when she considered marrying the prince to become a royal family member. As long as a member of her family married the Prince, the plot could continue.
Everyone loved the TV series' series finale because the Crown Prince and Sofia were able to conjure up a spell that protected the kingdom on their wedding day. Sofia’s paternal line, a line which Anastasia shared with her, was descended from powerful wizards.
She could really marry the Prince. She smiled because it was a glimmer of hope in this life.
