Chapter 11.
Breaking a Pattern.
Elara felt trapped in her little corner of the Fairy Kingdom. Although Mara did her best to keep her busy and distracted, the sadness of not being able to attend the Order of Time consumed her.
Every day she saw her fairy friends return with exciting stories of their experiences and new friendships, and this only increased her longing.
One night, as the stars shone in the sky, Elara ventured into the nearby forest in search of some solace. She felt the forest was the only place where she could be herself, away from prying eyes and awkward questions.
As she walked through the trees, her thoughts turned to the fact that perhaps her birth hadn't been the best decision and that she was a nuisance who shouldn't exist because she would never be allowed into the Order of Time.
Suddenly, Elara came across an old cabin she had never seen before. Curiosity led her to approach and push the door, which creaked open. Inside, she found a welcoming space filled with ancient books and scrolls. In the center of the room, an old fairy watched her with a kind smile.
Welcome, Elara, the old woman said. I was waiting for you.
Elara was surprised and took a step back. ¿How do you know my name?, she asked, her voice trembling.
The old woman laughed softly. I know many things, little fairy. I have been here a long time, watching and waiting for the right moment to help you.
Elara was intrigued and moved a little closer. ¿Help me? ¿With what?
The old woman gestured toward a table filled with old scrolls. I have heard your whispers in the wind. I know you wish to go to the Order of Time, but there are things you do not know.
The little fairy told her: I want to know it, but they won't let me... ¿Why can't I become worthy of going to the Order of Time? I want to learn too, I want to meet other people who aren't the usual fairies...
And then that old fairy told her: Then let's make this cabin a secret replica of the Order of Time where you alone will be the main student and I'll arrange for you to meet other children of different species...
You're sure to make beautiful friendships, the little fairy started jumping up and down, saying: I'm finally going to learn, I'm going to have my own version of the Order of Time. The old woman couldn't help but feel bad for the huge deception she was going to play on the little fairy. Although she had told the truth, she wouldn't really lead her to meet new people from other species. Instead, she would use magic to make her believe there were other people of other species around her...
This was wrong, and if Mara found out, she would probably impose a huge punishment on her, but she also understood that this poor fairy wasn't to blame for being born a certain way and that her own destiny was intertwined with the other boy who had surely already died of loneliness, isolated in the center of the Earth...
She knew that poor boy... The demon was suffering, because for a time she was sent to make sure that it remained repressed, but the only thing she heard were Azazel's unwavering cries begging to be let out, that he was afraid because he was very alone…
Her fairy heart wanted to help him and get him out of there to protect him, but her integrity told her that she could not save those who should not be saved, and so, now that she saw the sadness in Elara's eyes, she could not help, but feel that she should at least heal that wound that had been left open back then...
