After spending a good half an hour running around searching for the creep, I eventually give up and take a seat on the grass, resting my back against my neighbour's fence, head looking up to the clear blue sky, wondering just where the hell they could have gone.
No way I just imagined it; I’m too old to still have imaginary friends, let alone one’s who are as creepy as that fucko!
I don’t know what their deal was or what they wanted with me, but they better believe they have another thing coming if they dare show their face around here again!
Even though I couldn’t see them, I couldn’t shake this intense feeling that they were still around, leaving me on high alert and watching all sides just in case they returned and attempted a surprise attack on me.
That was when my sights fell on that stupid dog again, which I could see through a small hole in the fence.
Look at that dumb mutt...Sleeping like it didn’t have a care in the world.
I think it’s time to teach that mutt a valuable lesson: never let its guard down when I’m around.
Was just about to hunt for more rocks to peg at the stupid beast when a horrible yet familiar prescience put a stop to such a plan.
“Taking your anger out on a dog just minding its own business, huh? Wonder if that’s a terrible copping mechanism or an early sign of a serial killer in the making?” The creep had returned once more, towering behind me as if it had popped out of thin air.
Seeing this creep once more had almost sent me running back to get my father, though I had stopped myself, remembering how that went down last time.
“Ah, thinking about running to your father, huh?” The person looked over to the house, still flipping that coin all the while, as they let out an unnerving chuckle. “Locking his son outside and disregarding his cries for help...Interesting man, one I’m sure Lady Fate would be most interested in.”
Lady Fate? Interested in my dad?
I don’t know what this freak is on about, but I do know that they had to have been hiding somewhere around here if they knew what went down with me and my dad. “W-Who the hell are you and why are you here!?” Since dad wasn’t going to help me, it was up to me to find out what this creep wanted, readying myself for a fight if this person tried anything. “What do you want with me!?”
Another chuckle left the creep, approaching the fence and leaning on it right beside me. “No need to be so hostile, little one; I’m not here to start a fight or harm you in anyway,” they said in a calm tone, only leaving me more unnerved with the person. “The reason I’m here is to play a little game with you.”
“A-a game?” the hell is this person on about? Who the hell was this creep? I tried to find out by taking a closer look into their hood, yet all I could see was nothing, as if I were looking into a dark void. “The hell type of game do you want to play with me and why?" I started to wonder if this was even a human I was talking to.
Whatever the hell this thing was, it eventually caught the coin it had been flipping since it arrived here. “It’s quite a simple game anyone can play, even a child such as yourself.” The thing then showed me the coin, one side showing a picture of a stupid cat standing on top of a fence, while the other side had the silhouette of a person’s head with an X carved over it. “Rules are simple: I flip this coin, and if it lands on tails, you win, and if it lands on heads, then you lose.”
“H-huh? You just want to play a dumb game of heads and tails?” I’m seriously lost with what the hell was going on and why this creep is doing all this.
“For the why? That’s for Lady Fate to know; I’m just here per her request and to play my favourite game with so many fascinating people.”
This fucker didn’t make any sense, nor do I understand what the hell he means by this Lady Fate nonsense, and honestly, at this point, I didn’t give a fuck! “Look here, buddy. I don’t know why you want to play this stupid game with me or what other agenda you have in mind, but I demand you get your ass off my property!” I point to the gate, ready to throw hands if this creep decides not to comply.
Once again, the creature chuckled, leaving me worried it was going to try and pull something and attempt to strike me down. “Fried to tell you that ain’t happening, kid,” the creature began rolling the stupid coin with its thumb and finger. “Least not till we play my favourite game together, win or lose; I can guarantee that’d I’d be taking my exit once the game is all over.”
I was hesitant to believe this creep would keep its word and leave after playing this dumb game, but I really had nothing to lose by allowing this thing to play its game, and at least there was some chance it would be true to its word and take its leave right after. “...So you promise to get the hell out of here once we are done with this stupid game, right?
The creature answers with only a nod.
“Fine! Then let’s get this game over with already!” Despite our agreement, I didn’t let my guard down around this creep and prepared myself to take this thing down if it so much as looked at me funny.
“Excellent, then let’s delay no longer.” With that, the creature flipped the coin in the air, my eyes glued to it as I watched it spin over and over again, getting a sinking pit in my stomach and feeling nervous over whatever side it was going to land on for reasons I just couldn’t explain.
Tails: You will live out the rest of your days with few worries
Head: You may not even make it to your next birthday
Such a feeling only got worse once the thing uttered those words, fearing it was going to do something terrible to me if the coin happened to land on heads.
I didn’t have much time to linger on that thought as the coin landed back on the creep’s palm with it flipping the coin over to the top of it’s other hand, my heart pumping and my lips feeling dry while watching the thing lift its hand to confirm the results...
Lady Fate has chosen you to participate in a game, one with dire consequences if you lose-a simple game where a single coin flip can mean life or death.
Tails: You win and live the rest of your life in peace
Heads: Well, guess you'll just have to play and find out
