Lucy pressed her face against the coffee shop window, her breath fogging up the glass. "Jake! Look at how the rain makes everything sparkle! It's like the whole street is covered in diamonds!"
Jake smiled fondly at his girlfriend, adjusting his umbrella to shield them both. "You always see the beauty in everything, don't you?"
"How can I not?" Lucy twirled around, her yellow raincoat spinning like a carousel. "Even that puddle over there is reflecting the clouds like a mirror. Nature's very own art gallery!"
They walked hand in hand down the glistening sidewalk, Lucy stopping every few steps to point out something new. A spider web draped with dewdrops. A cluster of mushrooms pushing through a crack in the concrete. A rainbow forming in the mist of a passing car's spray.
"Oh!" She suddenly gasped, tugging Jake's sleeve. "Did you see that? That elderly couple just shared their umbrella with that stray cat. Isn't that the most precious thing you've ever seen?"
Jake squeezed her hand. "You know what's more precious? The way your eyes light up every time you discover something new."
Lucy beamed at him. "You never make fun of me for getting excited about little things."
"Why would I?" Jake pulled her close as they waited at a crosswalk. "Your wonder makes the world more wonderful. You showed me how extraordinary ordinary things can be."
"Like what?" Lucy asked, genuinely curious.
"Like how you taught me to appreciate the sound of wind chimes, or the way sunlight creates patterns on the wall, or even..." He paused, fishing something out of his pocket. "Or even how the simplest things can hold the most meaning."
In his palm lay a small dandelion, slightly crushed from being in his pocket.
Lucy's eyes widened with delight. "You kept the dandelion from our first date! When I said it was like holding a tiny sun in your hand!"
"I pressed it in a book," Jake admitted. "Because that was the moment I knew I was falling in love with you. Your ability to find magic in a common weed made me see the world differently."
Lucy stood on her tiptoes and kissed him softly. "And you're the magic that makes my world complete."
Above them, the rain began to ease, and a shaft of sunlight broke through the clouds. Lucy gasped in wonder, pointing at the sky. "Look, Jake! The sun is painting the raindrops gold!"
Jake watched her face instead of the sky, seeing all the wonder he needed in her sparkling eyes. "I see it, Lucy. I see it all thanks to you."
