Chapter 2.
Decisions of Destiny.
The days passed slowly while the memories of that distant love continued to haunt my mind. Each message, each call, and each shared photo brought me closer to him, but the reality of distance always got in the way.
One night, while I was looking at the starry sky from my balcony, I received a message from him. I need to see you. I can't go on like this. ¿Could you come to Elmor? His message was clear and desperate.
My heart beat hard as I read those words. The temptation to see him in person, to feel his embrace and hear his voice live, was overwhelming. But I knew that accepting his invitation meant making a difficult decision: leaving my life in Puerto Estrella, my job, my friends, and risking an uncertain future in a foreign country.
I spent the night awake, weighing my options. The idea of finally being together was tempting, but ¿was I ready to leave it all behind?
The next morning, I decided to talk to my best friend, Marina. I needed her perspective and support. We met at our favorite cafe, and as we sipped our steaming cups of coffee, I told her everything.
Marina looked at me seriously. I understand what you feel, but you have to think about yourself too. ¿Are you sure this is what you really want? ¿Are you willing to take the risks?
I nodded, though doubts continued to creep in. I can't stop thinking about him, Marina. I know it's risky, but I feel like I have to try. I don't want to live with the regret of not trying.
She smiled at me fondly. So, do it. But make sure you have a backup plan. Talk to your boss, explain the situation. Keep your options open. If things don't go your way, you can always come back.
That afternoon, with my heart still full of uncertainty, I spoke to my boss. I told him about my situation and my desire to take some time to explore this opportunity. To my surprise, he was understanding and offered me a temporary leave. Your position will be here waiting for you if you decide to return, he assured me.
With my boss’s backing and Marina’s support, I made a decision. I booked a flight to Elmor for the following week. Anticipation and nervousness mixed as I made preparations for my trip. I knew I was about to embark on a life-changing adventure.
When the day of the trip finally arrived, I felt a mix of excitement and fear. As the plane took off, I looked out the window, watching Puerto Estrella grow smaller. I was leaving everything I knew behind, but I was also moving forward into a future full of possibilities.
As I landed in Elmor, I felt a surge of excitement knowing that I would soon see that black-eyed boy who had captured my heart. I headed to the meeting point we had agreed upon, my heart pounding.
And there he was, waiting for me with a smile that made the entire trip worth it. As we hugged each other for the first time, I knew I had made the right decision. I was ready to face any challenge, as long as we were together.
The distance was no more, his scent was like a wine in spring. I couldn't stop thinking: I really did it, it's him, he's here, holding me. I've given up everything for this man.
