Chapter 10.
The Sea of Storms.
The sun shone brightly on the horizon as The Shadow of Thunder entered the Sea of Storms, a place famous for its dangerous and charming mermaids and the sea furies that lurked beneath the waves. The map the healer had given them indicated that they must cross this sea to reach their final destination and find Morgana.
Iris, ¿how is the crew? Marcus asked as he looked out at the choppy waters.
They are injured, but willing to move on, Iris replied, her voice firm. We know this sea is dangerous, but we have no other choice.
Marcus nodded, feeling the urgency of his mission. Stay alert. Sirens and sea furies will take advantage of any weakness.
As they moved deeper into the Sea of Storms, the waves began to rise and the wind howled with relentless force. The crew clung to the ropes and adjusted the sails, knowing that every move had to be precise to avoid disaster.
From the depths of the sea, the sirens watched with bright, hungry eyes. Their melodious songs echoed through the air, trying to lure unsuspecting sailors. The sea furies, with their sharp claws and terrifying fangs, prepared to attack any intruder who dared to cross their territory.
¡Beware the songs! Marcus warned. Do not let the sirens hypnotize you…
The sailors did their best to resist the temptation, covering their ears with rags and concentrating on their tasks. But the sirens' allure was powerful, and some began to sway, drawn by the seductive melody.
Iris, sensing the danger, grabbed a bucket of salt water and dumped it on the stricken sailors. ¡Wake up! ¡Don't fall into their trap!
The sirens, frustrated by their lack of success, began to emerge from the water, showing their beautiful faces, but sinister eyes. Their half-human, half-fish bodies moved gracefully, but their intentions were deadly.
At that moment, a deafening roar was heard in the distance. The sea furies had awakened and launched themselves towards the ship with impressive speed. Their scale-covered bodies gleamed in the sunlight, and their sharp claws extended towards the sailors.
Marcus unsheathed his sword, ready to defend his crew. ¡Prepare for combat! ¡We will not let these creatures stop us!
The battle in the Sea of Storms was fierce. The sea furies attacked with relentless fury, while the sirens tried to seduce the sailors with their songs. The crew of The Shadow of Thunder fought bravely, their swords clashing against the claws and fangs of the sea creatures.
Iris, leading a group of sailors, faced one of the largest sea furies. Her movements were agile and precise, but the creature was formidable. With a supreme effort, she managed to wound the fury and drive it back.
The creatures were numerous, however, and increasingly aggressive. Some sailors began to fall, dragged by the sea furies into the depths of the ocean. The screams of the fallen echoed in the air, filling the hearts of the crew with a mix of pain and rage.
Marcus, weakened, but determined, joined the fight. His sword glowed with a fierce light as he faced the creatures. Each blow resonated with the strength of his conviction, knowing that they could not afford to fail.
Finally, after an intense fight, they managed to repel some of the sea furies and the sirens. The creatures, defeated, retreated into the depths of the sea, leaving the crew exhausted and dejected.
¿Is everyone okay? Marcus asked, breathing heavily.
Barely, Iris replied, wiping sweat from her brow. But we have lost several of our men. This sea is more dangerous than we thought.”
Marcus nodded sadly, knowing that the battle had taken a heavy toll. We have overcome this obstacle, but we must continue forward. Morgana and Erebus will give us no reprieve.
With renewed determination, the crew of The Shadow of Thunder continued their journey, knowing that each step brought them closer to their destination.
The Sea of Storms remained a formidable challenge, and they knew they must remain vigilant to face the dangers that still awaited them.
What they didn’t know was that from the depths of the sea, the merfolk were beginning to shake the ship, attempting to flip it over for the sailors’ blood. The waters churned with renewed fury as the sea creatures worked in perfect timing to destabilize the vessel.
¡Something’s happening beneath us! Jax shouted, clinging to the mast as the ship tilted dangerously. ¡The merfolk are trying to flip us over!
Marcus, sensing the gravity of the situation, shouted to his crew: ¡All hands on deck! ¡Don't let them sink us!...
The sailors struggled to keep their balance as the ship rocked violently. The waves rose, threatening to drag them into the abyss. The crew knew they were on the brink of disaster, but they would not let the mermen get away with it.
The battle for survival continued in the Sea of Storms, and the crew of The Shadow of Thunder knew that their fight was far from over, for it was well known that within this sea whoever survives is because fate has allowed it or because the sea creatures have found enough bodies to quench their thirst, but it was something they did not yet know because the ship threatened to turn to the right so everyone tried to put the cannons and other heavy merchandise they were carrying to the left side, but despite the effort it was painful because some sailors ended up crushed by the cannons rolling again to the right leaving an internal spectacle of crushed bodies and exposed organs that were not easy to avoid seeing, because their bulging eyes out of their sockets were the warning that they were closer to dying than surviving.
