In this gruesome and unbearable day, I swung my sword to the enemy soldier's head, his body then falling limply before me. I breathed in harsh breaths and looked around reflexively to see for any more soldiers that might want my death. After seeing none, my shoulders relaxed. I sighed as I bowed my head to the ground.
"fucking hell.."
I sighed as I looked at the battle field, the mixed scent of mud and metal filling my nostrils. It reminded me once again that it was war-time. My sword and equipment felt heavy on my body, and so did my mind. As if the sky showed its hostility towards us, sinners on this earth, thunder threatened to befall us. The sky was grey, as always. Humidity was humming in the air, I was so tired of it all...
I was just standing there, sword in hand and eyes on the field, glazing over the future that awaited me and all the people that accompanied me through this war when all of a sudden, someone called my name.
"Caelan."
I turned with fright, armed and ready, only to find nothing. Well, in front of me, there was a hole that I hadn't noticed before... it looked deep and dark, a dark aura emanated from it. Just as I was about tp turn around again, I felt something pushing my back. The previously small hole in front of me widened and literally swallowed me whole.
I didn't have enough time to understand what was happening that I was already falling into it. The hole closed up and I continued falling into nothing...
* * *
I groaned as I tried to open my eyes, something was tickling my cheek. It felt both soft and harsh, reminding me of the old days when I was still a young and innocent kid. It smelled like... grass? When I opened my eyes fully, I came to the realization that I was laying down on grass. Green and healthy grass, not mud or concrete. I slowly sat up, confused with my surroundings before I felt a headache hitting me. I held my hand up to my head and clenched my jaw before actually taking a look around me.
"What the hell..."
Around me, a healthy forest with fresh scents and various shade of green was presented to me. It was nothing like thr dead and destroyed land that I knew, destroyed by war and human pollution. No, this land was very lively, without a sign of contamination. It was a shocking sight.
What was even more confusing about all of this was how I even ended up here. One second, I was on a muddy and corpse-filled battle field and the other, I am here. Ughh, just thinking about it seemed to worsen my headache...
A rustle in the bushes behind me alerted me of the presence of someone. I immediately thought it was an enemy soldier trying to surprise attack me, but what I found was worse.
I froze almost instantly after seeing it. My heart was beating almost as fasr as my mind was racing. I grasped my sword tightly and stared into that things eyes. It also looked back at me.
This thing that was hiding in the bushed a few meters away from me, it looked absolutely monstrous. I didn't even know what I was looking at... in the bushed, a bald headed monster with only half of it's face hidden away was staring back at me with round eyes. Its skin was so pale that it matched with its surroundings, making it almost invisible to the human eye if not checked carefully. How long had it been watching me?
I took a step back and as I did, it moved towards me. I froze again, not believing this kind of shit was happening to me. I had heard stories before of the skinwalkers, but I never imagined them being true. They were supposed to be horror stories, not the real thing damn it! I moved back again and it moved forward. Its head had moved up by its movements, it was now out of the bushes and I could see its mouth watering just by looking at me. My instinct were screaming at me to run away, adrenaline already running throughout my body.
"Ah hell nah!"
I suddenly made a run for it and it sprinted at full speed, at me, into the forest. That bald headed demon, I could hear it panting like a dog behind me. Panic overcame me and I tried running faster to get rid of it. But that bald dog demon thing just quickened its speed.
At this point, I running so fast that I was on the verge of tripping on something. Unfortunately for me, the creature persuing me noticed. I ran and ran until I couldn't hear the creature's horribly loud breathing behind me. Is lowed down my pace but continued running just to be careful, wouldn't want to get surprised attack by that...
I took a peek behind me, just to see if it was gone. This bald headed demon thought it would be funny if it appeared right in my face as I looked back. I screamed out of shock and terror while instinctively trying to hit it. I, at the same time, swung my fist towards it and lost my balance. I fell head first into a puddle of water, which was also filled with rocks. I tried my best to stand back up, but my vision was turning red. Shit, how hard had I hit my head?
By touching my forehead, I realized I was bleeding. My vision became more fuzzy than it already was and I eventually blacked out.
