I didn't even notice we were home until I was put on the couch. He went into the kitchen and I slid to the floor, burying my head between my knees. A few minutes later he returned, his footsteps loud in the quiet room
I looked up, just in time for him to put a plate of food infront of me. I was speechless. He never did that. Never. Only back then, many years ago. I wasn't grateful though, why would I be? Why does he even do it now? What's the point?
I didn't touch it, just kept staring at it. I didn't even notice the time passing but when I looked up at the watch, I realized it was almost two hours. Wow. That was fast
'Eat' my dad suddenly commanded
'I'm not hungry' I replied in all truth. I am not hungry anymore. I never thought I'll say it. But I did. And I didn't lie
Something in his face changed when I said that. He leaned back in the couch, sighing. 'You really found yourself some friends, huh..' he scoffed, not mockingly though, which made it pretty weird
'That's right, they're my friends. And you took me away!' I yelled. I immediately scooted back when he charged at me, his hand lifted. My back hit the cabinet near the TV and I buried my head in between my knees, my hands hugging my head tightly
A stressed sob left my throat but when nothing came I looked up. He was looking at me intently, I looked away from him, burying my chin where my head was before
He sighed again, rubbing his face with both of his hands like he was exhausted. And maybe he actually was. I'm a little shocked he didn't hit me actually
He sat back on the couch. 'I wanted to have a chance to be, nice, once again, for you, for one last time.' He seemed to hate that 'Nice' word, the way he said that
What did he mean by 'One last time'though? That almost sounded like a goodbye
He sighed for the third time in only a few minutes. 'Go' he finally said in almost a whisper. He said it so suddenly and out of the blue that it took me a few seconds to register what he meant. What That meant
Parker is a boy. Just a teenage boy.
But despite being 'just a teenage boy',
he experienced some things in life that
most teenage boys don't. After being kind of
kicked out of his house, he stumbled upon a
restaurant. Staying in the dark alley through
the night might've been scary, but it was the
best decision of his life that lead him to people
who made him feel belong.
