Micah and his mom arrived at the school, and it was unsettling. Micah‘s stomach felt unsettled. Mom gave M a hug but not a loving kind Micah felt like she didn’t care when she hugged him. He left his mom once after she said bye but her voice was shaking, and she was crying. Micah's mom went home it took hours since they lived in Indiana and she drove to California. Why did I do this she cried she felt like it was the right thing to do but was it? Micah walked into the school with nothing not even the layout of the school. He tried to find the office he bumped into a boy with dark blue hair his roots were dark brown. “Hey,” the boy said how rude Micah thought. “Hey,” Micah said do you know where the office is “Yeah” Micah followed the boy to the office then the boy vanished it was weird but he was where he wanted to be. “Micah Garcia,” a low voice said Micah followed the voice. “sir,” Micah said. “I heard about your little problem, That won’t be tolerated by me,” the man said. Micah clenched his fists And felt his eyes watering. The man held out a list “This is your schedule based on your schedule from your last school” and at this school, you will live here so now we need to get you a roommate. The man left Micah to look through the rooms that had a spot for him. The man came back to Micah. “You will be with Jamie in room 947." Micah stepped out of the office and walked towards the seemingly empty band room. Micah hopped they sent his sousaphone from his last school. Micah walked down the halls trying to find a room that said band like his old school. He found a room with golden instruments and silver. Micah ran inside to find the music director there her bun tight into a bun pulling her eyes to the sides of her head. Hey Mrs. Umm “SILENCE” the director said “Why Are You Here” she said again. I’m looking for the band room Micah said. She grabbed Micah’s hand smelling it strongly “peasantry.” “that way” she pointed to a basic room with a flute on it. Micah walked inside to find a man with bruises on his head and a slit on his lip. “They brought in your sousaphone it’s really cool.” Thank you Micah said. Micah sat down and put his sousaphone around himself and began to play. Micah’s music was like a river flushing through a ocean full empty love. Music was his spirit, his coping mechanism, his everything. Micah got trapped in his music. “Today we have new music for our concert in 2 months we also have pep band as well on November 13th.” Micah was frightened he hadn’t played forever. The band director handed out the music they were playing fur Elise, chose joy, and night fury. The band director gave Micah his pep band music. the bell rung and everyone walked to there dorm. I made my way to the dormitory hall, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension in the pit of my stomach. Upon locating my assigned dorm, I hesitantly stepped inside and was surprised to come face to face with the boy I had bumped into earlier. His striking blue hair caught my attention once again. "Hey, fancy seeing you here," he greeted me with a casual smile, breaking the initial awkwardness that hung in the air. Responding in kind, he mustered a half-hearted agreement before mustering up the courage to ask for my name."That's a difficult question," I admitted, feeling a mix of nervousness and envy. "I'm trans and the principal earlier was not really excepting of that," I confessed, bracing myself for his reaction. Without missing a beat, he introduced himself “I’m jamie” that seemed to offer a comforting reassurance that I could share my preferred name without judgment. Grateful for his understanding, I tentatively revealed, "Okay, I'm Micah," feeling a weight lifting off my shoulders as the words left my lips. Jamie's warm smile in response instantly put me at ease, drawing me in with its genuine kindness. "Why are you here?" Jamie inquired, curiosity lacing his words as we engaged in a newfound relationship. "I found myself in this situation because of a misunderstanding with my mom about my identity," I confided, opening up about the challenges I faced in being true to myself. "That sounds tough," Jamie empathized, validating my experiences with a sense of shared understanding. As our conversation unfolded, Jamie revealed that he was gay, a revelation that sparked a sense of connection and familiarity between us. "My goodness, me too," I exclaimed, a sense of relief washing over me as I found a membership in this unfamiliar setting. "It seems I’m not the only ones facing challenges here," Jamie remarked. “Many people don’t really know I’m gay so don’t tell anyone.” Jamie requested. “LIGHTS OUT” A muffled, loud, irritated, voice yelled down the hall. I’m shocked I never knew anyone could yell that hard and rough. “Well night pretty boy” Jamie said, that caught Micah’s heart like a fishing rod catches a fish. Was that a compliment or a insult Micah thought. Micah went to sleep without a single dream in play.
