When people are born, they don't choose what kind of magic they want to use.
People are born with a minimum amount of mana. As time passes, this mana develops until it is capable of producing magic. It could be said that mana is the battery that makes magic work.
Approximately seventy percent of the world's population possesses the magic of one of the 4 elements: fire, water, earth, and air.
The magic of the 4 elements manifests itself naturally. However, to get an exclusive spell, you must have an affinity with the type of spell you want. For example, a person who likes light a lot and constantly lives with it will probably acquire the Magic of Light.
But you also don't need to have an affinity or a positive idea to have an exclusive magic. Like, for example, the Magic of Death, in which the user may have gone through a traumatic experience to acquire it.
Willpower and obsession with something can also be factors that contribute to acquiring unique magic.
It is important to remember that the phase of life in which mana develops to manifest magic is in childhood; therefore, a good part of it does not develop exclusive magic since children do not understand very well how mana and the world work and also do not have very clear or realistic goals.
I get into fighting stance, waiting for Reinier to get into position so we can start the second round.
It looks like he's ready.
"When I say "go", okay?."
This time, I will win!
"Three...Two...One...and...GO!" The second round begins.
Reinier raises his sword, and it starts to boil. He quickly takes her to the ground with great speed. And then a slash of fire comes towards me. A Flame Slash!
As the slash is coming, I dodge to the left, and the Flame Slash passes by my side.
When I lift my head, I see that Reinier is throwing several flaming slashes at insane speed.
I need to counterattack if I want to win!
Instead of dodging to the sides, I go towards Rei, jumping, ducking, and making small movements to dodge all the Flame Slashes that come my way.
I get close enough to Rei, put the Pressurized Water in my fist, and prepare to punch Reinier.
But suddenly, Rei drops his sword and raises her hand quickly, aiming for my face. Glowing red particles start to gather in his palm, and the particles coalesce into a Fireball!
I had no idea he was capable of doing that!
He makes a fireball while I have my fist back, preparing to punch him!
He fires it, and the fireball comes towards my face. Luckily, I move my head to the side and the fireball grazes it.
I could feel the heat she emanated passing over my skin; for sure, this would be a critical hit.
I destabilized myself and couldn't land my punch. Reinier takes a few steps back; he must have been surprised that I dodged.
When making the Fireball, he dropped his sword; it's now or never!
Advancing on top of Reinier, I prepare to throw a punch. Rei defends himself with his arms protecting his face, but what he doesn't expect is that the punch was a bluff!
The real blow I will deliver will be a kick!
Midway through the trajectory of the punch, I lower my fist, rotate my body counterclockwise, create the Pressurized Water on my right foot, and kick Reinier's ribs with my right leg!
He has no reaction time and ends up being hit.
He is thrown away by the impact of my Pressurized Kick. The noise the water makes is like a burst.
I should learn another technique; relying on just Pressurized Water is bad, as I can only use it once per punch or kick.
Reinier lies down with his hand on his ribs. I approach him and raise my fist.
"Okay, okay, you won..." Rei says putting her hands up in surrender.
"It's one-on-one. Let's break this tie soon." I say.
"I think it's better not; we have to save mana to use later." Rei speaks and massages the area I kicked. "Not to mention, that kick hurt like hell. I'd rather not risk another kick from you." He completes.
"Well, then, in the end, I am stronger than you are." I say it ironically.
"Oh, come on, it was a tie, got it? T I E." Reinier says exalted.
"Hahaha, sore loser." Winning is very good.
The mage has 3 classifications, and each one has a different training.
The ratings are:
Built-in Magic.
Controlled Magic.
Long-Distance Magic.
Built-in Magic or Embedded Magic is about bodily endurance. By embedding your body with magic, your body becomes more resistant. Usually, people don't train this kind of magic because they think it's a waste of time; it's almost like leg day at the gym.
Controlled Magic is for imbuing something with magic; this includes body parts or objects. I use Controlled Magic to make Pressurized Water, for example. Another example is Reinier's sword when he imbues it with flames.
The difference between Built-in Magic and Controlled Magic is that Built-in Magic strengthens the user's body from the inside, while Controlled Magic just creates magic outside the body, as if it were armor.
Controlled Magic can be used for defense as well as offense, creating a powerful punch or powerful magic armor.
Long-Distance Magic is a magic that works specifically on projectiles such as arrows or anything else thrown.
The difference between Controlled Magic and Long-Distance Magic is that Long-Distance Magic gives more speed to the projectile, not to mention that there are specific spells for projectiles. Controlled Magic only imbues the projectile, and sometimes the imbued magic cannot travel great distances.
There is one more classification, actually a subclassification of Controlled Magic, but it is so difficult to learn and use that some consider it a different classification: Extensive Magic.
Extensive Magic can control magic from outside the body. All classifications of magic, the user needs to have contact with something to activate it, but the Extensive Magic does not. The user of Extensive Magic can control magic even when not in direct contact with anything.
For example, an Air Magic user could use Extensive Magic to knock all the air out of his enemy's lungs without even touching him.
If Reinier used Extensive Magic, he could set me on fire even if he didn't touch me.
This is the difference between Extensive Magic and other classifications of magic: the user can create magic wherever he wants.
Of course, there are still limitations to this type of magic. For an Air Magic user to be able to get all the air out of someone's lungs just using Extensive Magic, that person must be a Master in Extensive Magic and have a lot of mana.
There are very few people who are capable of using Extensive Magic. One of the most famous users of Extensive Magic is Skylar, the head of one of the Three Great Houses.
Training a single type of magic doesn't strengthen all ranks, so if, for example, I only train Controlled Magic, I won't improve my Built-in Magic, and vice versa.
"Now let's go before it gets late, not that it matters too much." Rei gets up and walks away.
After battling, we walk to the entrance to the next level.
Reinier and I went down to level 11, and there we killed some Celeste Moose and other monsters like the Royal Chameleon.
This little bug was very annoying to defeat since he camouflaged himself. He was 3 meters long. One of his attacks was spitting acid, but it wasn't too hard to dodge.
When it was about 12:30 p.m., we went up for lunch. We ate at the Tavern of the Dragon again; this tavern is actually really good. This time I had two buns with mortadella, which was delicious. And Reinier had sweet potatoes stuffed with chicken.
When it is approximately 8 p.m., Rei and I return to the surface.
I'm extremely tired. My mana has already run out, my legs and arms are numb, and my eyes are down.
"All I want right now is to take a shower and go to sleep." I say.
"I make your words mine..." Rei says with clear exhaustion.
My clothes are all dirty. I look at Rei and his clothes are the same as mine: full of dirt and even some tears on the legs.
"How many crystals did we get?" I ask Reinier.
"Eight."
"Great, I think you can buy something useful with that." I say.
"Just let's go to the Adventurer's Guild soon, please..."
We head towards the Adventurer's Guild, the one we went to the last few times.
The Dungeon Area at night is beautiful. Even though it's night, the poles light up very well. The poles are colonial in style, with a crystal of warm yellow light inside that illuminates the street.
The lighting of establishments also illuminates the street involuntarily.
Most bars and taverns are crowded, with a lot of noise inside. Bards play, people sing; people are very excited.
Well, almost every night it happens, especially in the South Area.
The moonlight also helps to illuminate the place. The full moon is clear and dazzling, with stars all around, filling the sky and making the mood cozier.
I just have to be careful not to get mugged...
With Reinier by my side, I don't think there's that much danger.
