Luna had lit lamps on the back veranda, the moon was slowly growing, it's pale rays, cast a few streaks of light across the sand. The sea sparkled in the distance. The salt breeze was refreshing.
Millie and Luna sat together on the wide sun bed, gazing out into the night in silence!
She felt bad! Luna had invited her for a sleepover, she should be happy excited. Making the most of their time together! Millie, wanted to tell Luna about her Dream, about her confusion and fear! But just didn't know how!
Luna knew Millie was uncomfortable! Had she done something wrong? Or was Millie upset? Thinking about her Dream maybe! Should she just say something? But What?
Luna picked up her glass of wine, and took a huge gulp!
Millie noticed and took 2 gulps!
The girls looked at each other and laughed!
Luna sighed and took a deep breath. - Out with it! - She directed her friend.
MMM! - Millie hesitated.
Look, you can trust me! I know a little bit already! - Luna coaxed.
What do you know? - Why was Millie feeling suddenly scared.
I am sorry, but I spied on you last night!
What? - Millie wracked her brain to remember what she had done last night! Nothing strange! She looked at the Telescope, on its stand at the far end of the veranda.
Oh no! - Luna shook her head. - I don't mean with the telescope.
What do you mean?
I walked into your Dream! But I wasn't prying, I am just worried about you!
What was Luna talking about? - What do you mean you walked into my Dream?
It is one of my gifts, I am sorry I didn't tell you. Until now, I didn't think you needed to know!
Why now? - Could it be true?
Because I think you might need my help! Do you need my help Millie? - Luna reached out and touched Millie's knee.
So if Luna had, seen her Dream last night! She really did know? Millie could feel the fear rising, Goose flesh, rising along her scalp! Tears forming at her eyes.
Luna continued. - Did something happen to you when you were little? Was your name Rose?
I don't know! - A wail came from Millie's mouth, she placed her head in her hands, as the dam broke. She sobbed like she would die! Her body wracked with pain.
Oh God! Luna hadn't expected this! What had she done? - Millie! I'm Sorry! - She knelt in front of Millie and wrapped her arm's around the sobbing girl!
Luna rubbed Millie's back as she continued to sob. This was not normal! It was as though she had been saving these tears up for years! Luna now wondered what kind of pain Millie was suffering to go through this.
As Millie's crying slowed to hiccuping breaths, Luna encouraged her to walk inside. Sat her on the lounge, wrapped a light blanket over her and bought her a box of tissues and a hot cup of tea.
Right! When you are ready you are going to tell me everything! OK? - Luna was determined now, this girl wouldn't hide the truth from her any longer!
Millie nodded. Finally she had someone she could talk to, someone who would understand. The tears threatened to start again, but she forced them back. Picked up the Tea, sipping and concentrating on letting the heat, calm her.
What you saw in my Dream, - Millie started, - Do you think that really happened?
Why was Millie asking her? - Don't you know, if it happened?
I cant remember anything from when I was really little! I only have that dream, I have been having it all my life! I don't even know if it is real!
I have this scar on my head, though! She pointed to a spot on the back of her head!
Luna got up to have a look, Yes there was a long, raised scar hidden under Millie Hair.
Maybe I had some sort of accident, that took away my memories!
And those people in the Dream, are they your parents?
No I don't think so, I could never recognize their voices. And I have never seen their faces. I had a mother who loved me! She passed away not long ago! - Tears threatened. - She is the only parent I ever knew.
Did you have a Father?
No, She was a single mother! Never Married!
Sorry If these questions are hard! I am just putting out some thoughts to think about! Try to be open! - Luna was in detective mode now!
OK! Millie smiled. Luna looked so serious!
Is there a chance you were adopted?
I don't know! I never really considered it! - Where was Luna heading with this theory?
Do you have a birth certificate?
Um yes! In a box of things, of my mother's.
OK good, we will look at that later!
Just say, the people in your Dream are your real parents. Somehow you were in an accident. Maybe went missing? Then ended up with the Mother, you grew up with! - Luna tapped her mouth, in thought.
Maybe my name really was, Rose! - Millie had had all sorts of similar thoughts today! Something had been different in her Dream last night, Why had it changed? - Luna?
Yes?
You must know a lot about Dreams?
Well yes! Why?
Last night, the dream was a bit different, to all of the other times. A bit longer, and with extra added. The bit where, the couple are calling Rose, in a more desperate way! It was Darker, more frightening!
You have never seen that bit before?
No - Millie shook her head.
I wonder if you have more, hidden memories, that are slowly coming to the surface?- Luna pondered.
Is that possible?
Well! - nodded Luna,- I have found that, with Dream's, anything is possible!
Really?
You would be surprised! I can tell you a few stories! - Luna stopped herself, before she got off track. - Well, some other time!
So I am likely to keep dreaming, that same dream, but with more memories? - She balked at the thought.
Poor Millie! Luna was worried for her friend too, What if the memories would get more traumatic for her? But maybe she could help! At least she could be there, in the Dreams with Millie. And if she could help she would!
Millie, is it OK with you, if I enter your Dream, and help you try to remember? - Luna looked into her friends eyes!
You can do that? Does it hurt? - Millie looked startled!
No, It doesn't hurt! - Luna smiled - At most you might feel better, knowing I am there!
Ok, When?
No time like the present! When you fall asleep tonight!
And you will be with me? - Millie wanted reassurance.
Right beside you holding your hand! Don't be scared!
Thank you!
