Had it been a dream?
Dusty sat eating his breakfast. A simple breakfast of Cereal, toast and orange juice.
It was always the same! A routine, he was happy with!
7am : His alarm would buzz under his pillow, the vibration waking him.
7.10 : He would choose his clothes for the day. Picking a colour according to his mood.
7.30 : He would shower, shave and dress.
While he showered, Millie would be preparing his breakfast.
8am : Breakfast.
8.45 : He would begin his walk up the Beach to the Wave Cafe!
9am : He would be sitting, enjoying his regular Latte, reading the latest novel, of one of his favorite authors.
This was where his routine, sometimes had a slight variation. If he was particularly enjoying his book, he may stay longer. Or he might leave, and make his way back home. Collecting treasures, on the sand, that the waves had left overnight.
12 noon : He would be back home eating a sandwich for lunch, again provided by Millie.
This morning his mind wandered! If it had been a dream, why did he remember it? But then it had been impossible hadn't it?
He had had dreams like this occasionally. Dreams where he could, hear again!
But last night had seemed different, more real! He had heard Music! Dusty hadn't had a dream, about hearing Music before!
He had mostly dreamed of hearing the waves. The waves that he watched each day, as they ebbed and flowed, along the sand.
He tried to forget about it. Continue his routine, try to find something to enjoy about his day!
Dusty had chosen to wear Brown today! A soft brown T-Shirt. And because the day was warm, his usual Grey shorts, and slip on sandals.
Grabbing his novel, he headed out the door to the beach. He walked down to the waters edge where the sand was firmest, and headed to the Cafe.
The new owners would be running the place alone now. Would they be expecting him? Know about his regular order? He felt pretty sure that the past owner's would have filled them in. He patted the note in his pocket. It had info for his order, and a phone number for Millie, in case they needed more clarification.
Millie always made sure the Cafe, had his account in credit. Besides being his Housekeeper/Caretaker, she was also his secretary. She had access to a Credit account, that she used to buy his food, and necessary items. She paid his bills and did his paperwork.
He couldn't fault her, even with her young age, she was proficient and trustworthy.
She occupied the Large Bedroom at the front of his house. Always on hand if needed, but she mostly kept to herself. Often a day would go by, without him seeing her.
Somehow, his house was always spotless. Sheets clean, Bed made, clothes washed and ironed. Meals were always on the table, at the times he requested. Breakfast and lunch, the same each day. Evening meals he left up to her. But they were always, delicious and nutritious. He looked forward to seeing what she cooked, for him.
She liked to keep to herself, and so did he. It was a situation that suited them both very well. He liked her! She knew enough, sign language to get by! So if he needed to consult with her about something, he could press the buzzer in his room, and she would be there within 10mins.
Opening the door to the Cafe, Dusty thought about where to sit today! The tables had been arranged nicely outside! He wandered through and took a seat, under a shady Umbrella and opened his book. Settling in he began to read!
From the counter Luna had watched him. She had expected him to come to the counter, but he had walked straight past. Was he going to order? Watching him for a while, he seemed engrossed in his book. He hadn't even looked her way!
Should she approach him and ask? It seemed a bit pushy! Maybe he just wanted to sit and enjoy the view! This early on she would hate to upset a customer!
Maybe this was a job for Star! After all there was an advantage, to having a Brother who could read minds! Situations like this!
Star? See that guy over there? Can you read him, and see if he wants anything? - She smiled at him pleadingly!
Are you too scared to ask him? - Star was a little annoyed, they were here to have a break from using their powers after all!
Please!
Oh alright! - Star came out to the counter. He could just make out the guy, sitting reading. He listened. - He is concentrating on his book!
Luna frowned, - He must want something!
Hang on! - Star listened. - He seems to be waiting on his regular order! He seems annoyed!
Regular Order?
A latte!
What size?
How would I know?
Luna looked perplexed! Star took pity on her! - Just give him a large! He can't complain about that!
Oh right! Good Idea! - Luna rushed off to fill the order!
At that moment, the guy turned to look at Star!
Star froze as their eyes locked! His heart did a jump! Huh?
That Aura! It matched his clothes. Brown! Practical, earthy, sensual, logic, thinking, rationalization.
The words came to him automatically!
I guess it is habit! He told himself.
Why is he looking at me? Dusty was a little surprised, he had turned to look for his Coffee, but instead he had found, one of the new owners looking at him. A very interesting and Handsome new owner!
Star gulped, had he heard right? He suddenly felt uncomfortable, turned and rushed back to the Kitchen.
He frowned. This is why, they had moved! He didn't want to hear every thought of every person he came across. If he stayed in the Kitchen, kept away from the customers, he could block the voices to a certain extent.
Inserting ear buds, he put on some favourite music. Then got back to work!
Dusty smiled as Luna bought over his Coffee! She had given him a large instead of a small, but that didn't matter! The pretty girl had smiled at him, and he had forgotten his annoyance. They had known his order all along!
He thought about the male owner, the way he had looked at Dusty, had made him intrigued! A guy with silver blond hair, that wore dark glasses indoors. Was something you didn't see everyday! But the sparkle coming out of those eyes, behind the glasses. Had he imagined that?
All he knew, was that he wanted to look again, and find out!
