It was 8am, he was late! Star trudged up the beach to the Wave Cafe. Luna was already there, setting up for the day.
Lifting her head, she smiled. - Hey, big brother, you are a bit slow today!
Sorry, Sis! - Peering through his dark glasses, he grimaced guiltily - I had a bit of a sleepless night.
Anything Wrong?
No, must have been something I ate! - He lied! What had troubled him was, something else, a puzzle! He dared not tell her, she would worry!
Luna nodded - I thought you would be feeling amazing, after the clear sky's, last night!
Last night had been the first night, that the sky had been full of stars. Since they had moved here 8 days ago, it had been cloudy! His power supply, had been greatly depleted. He had needed to re-charge.
Truthfully, It had been wonderful! Wading into the cool sea, floating under the stars, letting them do their magic! It had been a perfect night! He had felt his strength return even quicker than usual. Maybe because he felt free here.
A new place, where no one knew them. A new home! A new business! A new beginning!
He loved it here! The small beach town, was lovely! Quite and secluded! Not many tourists visited.
The house they had purchased, wasn't huge!. Three bedrooms, bright and cheerful! It backed onto the beach! Empty blocks either side, the closest neighbor, around 50 meters away! Peaceful! The perfect place for them!
A wide Veranda, ran across the back, Star had set up his Telescope! The Gardens were just right for Luna's flowers too!
For the last 9 years they had both lived as nomads. Traveling from town to town, in their camper. Setting up at Markets and Fairs, Luna Deciphering Dreams, Star Reading Aura's. 'The Twin Mystics'
They had developed a following, Regulars, would appear at every stop. Crowds would form at their van, they had often worked into the night. Then there were those who, could not accept the paranormal, and would harass them.
It had finally worn them down. They had begun to feel suffocated. They had always vowed, that if what they loved, ever became a chore, they would make a change.
Luna had begun to feel frightened. Star had to protect her, keep her safe. She was his family. The only one she could trust!
Just looking at his sister's smile now, convinced him that they had made the right decision.
The previous owners of the Cafe, had stayed on for a week to help them settle in, and learn the ropes.
This would be the first day, on their own. He should have been here sooner. They would probably make plenty of mistakes, he just hoped the customers would be forgiving.
Star! Let's put more chairs outside today! - Luna called - And the Umbrella's!
On to it! - Star grinned at her. And busied himself. Placing tables and chairs, where they would get the most of the views.
The Wave Cafe, was small but modern. Large bi-fold glass doors, opened across the ocean side to let in the fresh breezes, but could be left shut in bad weather. A wide walkway outside separated it from the sand.
The Inside was painted all in white, with blue trimmings. Luna had added her own flare, with brightly colored throw cushions, and vases of flowers.
When he had everything set up outside, Luna gave him a quick hug! - Thank you! - Then before she could get sentimental, she grinned, squeezing his muscular arms. - I think, last night did help a lot! Yesterday, you were such a weakling! - She laughed and stuck out her tongue.
You just wait! - Star teased, jabbing her in the ribs!
Growing serious he asked - And you? How are you feeling? The moon was nice and bright!
Luna flung her arm's wide - I feel amazing! - She smiled, shutting her eyes! - The beach was so beautiful last night! I feel more alive than ever!
He had to smile! She would have been, wading through the waves. Clothes left in a pile on the sand! He blocked that thought from his mind. There was a reason, they always split up when re-charging, and he preferred not to think about it!
Off to the kitchen! - He announced, and slipped behind the counter to the rear.
The kitchen was quite spacious, everything set out perfectly! Star had always enjoyed cooking! But rarely had had the chance.
He quickly mixed up a batch of Muffin's and a Coconut sponge cake! Placing them in the oven while he waited on his first order.
The breakfast, menu was pretty basic. A small selection of hot dishes and Toasties. Things that the regular customers liked. Star was happy to leave things as they were, until he became more proficient.
The door bell jangled, as the first customer arrived. Star could hear Luna, greet them and take their order. She popped the food order, through the small Cutout dividing the kitchen from the rest of the Cafe.
Star could hear Luna at the coffee machine, while he started up the grill. The Day had begun!
