Wilkins that late evening told me of the Baron's study, and where the gold was being kept, he was accepting bribes from the crowns for his silence, but it wasn’t just about the Queen.
I crumpled the paper in my hands and scowled, this horrid man was as dirty as the rest, he was buying land and investing in foreign countries on behalf of the prince.
I should have known better, laying in my bed I looked at the ceiling.
Tomorrow he would go into town, and I would look through his study myself, find what that horrid man was hiding, all his secrets would be mine.
And then, I would take his head, along with that whore of a wife, and that…..
Stopping, my mind went numb….
That rat of a daughter….
Picturing the lady’s blond hair in my hands, I could almost feel it, guilt pooled in my chest, but I couldn’t feel now, I’ve gone too far.
Two other families had fallen to me, hers would be no different, they had daughters too, so why did that woman linger in my mind?
She was crude, playful, and worst of all, vulgar.
But damn her lips tasted good.
Turning to my side, I stared at my palm, the very hand that would rest on the small of her back at times.
I had always wished to see my hands painted in her blood, but now, I couldn’t help but wonder, what face she would look at me with while I killed her, would she accept it? Would she fear me? Would she never call me a silly name again?
Of course not…she’d be dead….
My stomach twisted and I could hardly focus, sitting up I pulled out a case from under my bed and sat it on my lap.
Opening it with a key I had around my neck, I added the paper I had crumpled up to the pile, everything I knew.
My aunt was named Shelia Trixx, after Mother died and Father remarried she was all that cared for me, I could still remember how soft her voice was when she sang.
Yet one day, she was ripped away from me, the king had taken a liking to her curves and married her, a year later she died.
Scowling, I gritted my teeth.
The prince shoved her under the water and the princess laughed while she sang.
Don’t let her come back up.
Fall into a pond? What a horrid lie, there were five families who witnessed this, five maids actually.
The current baroness was producing milk so she was taken to be the second prince’s nanny for a time on the recommendation of another, she held the infant while she watched the drowning.
The other Baroness who was there was the nanny to the two horrid siblings, a snobbish woman who recommended Baroness Alindell to nurse the child.
She will be who I kill next, her and her three sons, I will show them the pain I felt.
As I ponder my thoughts, I hear a small knock on my door and a letter slides beneath.
My brow furrows as I walk over and get on one knee to read it.
Dear Fenton….
Just starting it I knew who it was from, I wanted to throw open this door and kill whoever the messenger was then and now.
I will save you from that lady, don’t fret, for tonight you will be free, in the morning I’ll send a messenger to fetch you, I’ve decided to buy land in the area, we could spend the rest of the summer together.
My heart dropped, turning on my heel, I rushed out the door and began running to the lady’s room, to think the princess would do…no, of course, she would she’s always been twisted.
“Lady Alindell! Are you-“ Slamming open her door I look to see a lady with a hot-blooded poker and a sweet little grin.
A dead maid lays on the floor, her white apron stained red as it seemed she was stabbed again, and again.
“Oh Count! Could you be a dear and help me hide this body?”
She said with a little grin as stood in utter shock.
“I’ll…go get Wilkins….”
