Dex rushed towards the skyscraper, creating shockwaves along the road, and his eyes widened at the sight of the skyscraper that was engulfed in flames.
The skyscraper looked like it belonged to a certain criminal organization in the town, it was located at the uppermost area in a mountain, restricting any normal citizens from entering the building without any assistance from its members.
It also had many floors, with Dex estimating that there were quite around 63-65 floors in the skyscraper, the flames mainly resided at the 37th floor, and it kept intensifying from the way there, with the entire 60th floor being at the brink of collapsing entirely.
As Dex swiftly rushed to the skyscraper, he saw that many explosions still occurred, and that many citizens went outside of their balconies to see the chaos ensue. Many of the citizens already informed the Intergalactic Federation about the sudden explosions and surges of lightning in the skyscraper caused by an unknown figure, who seemed to hold a grudge against the criminal organization.
“That skyscraper… What the hell is happening with this town?!”
One of the citizens looked outside, and saw the atmosphere change from a hellish, red glow caused by the massive flames in the skyscraper that belonged to the notorious criminal organization “Sandstorm”.
All of the powerless citizens exited their homes and evacuated to a center made by the Intergalactics to protect them against the outlaws. One of them packed their supplies, their important documents, and noticed a shockwave that was caused by Dex’s swift movement, knocking him into a wall and causing the cupboard in front of him to collapse.
“What the hell was that just now?”
The citizen wondered to himself, as the cupboard suddenly fell upon him, causing his leg to get stuck, while his house was struck in flames due to one of the debris.
Dex was thrilled for what is to come, as he finally reaches his destination. He looked up at the skyscraper that stood before him, the debris that constantly fell down, and the smoke that engulfed the entire building, making it quite difficult to see.
Without any delay, he entered the skyscraper, and was met with many members of the criminal organization “Sandstorm”. The members wore a light brown suit, and held a tommy gun at all times for battle.
The Sandstorm members saw the particular outlaw, and knew that it was the infamous outlaw Dex Solstice. Most of the members retreated to the higher floors, highly aware of the immeasurable difference in strength compared to someone like him, whilst the others who remained downstairs aimed their tommy guns at Dex, something that they would regret later on.
“Did y’all really think that those guns would actually do something to me?”
Dex called out at them, laughing hysterically at how the Sandstorm members think that their tommy guns would do anything to someone like him, who has unparalleled speed and precision.
Suddenly, Dex dashed at a ludicrous speed, slashing every member of the criminal organization in a blink of an eye, and lacing them with a deadly poison that spread throughout their entire bodies.
“Maybe next time, use something more technologically advanced.”
Dex slightly chuckled at them, and shortly after he moved on to the second floor where he would meet more members of Sandstorm.
All of them were frightened at just the sight of him, and ran away like cowards to the next floors, where they would hide from his presence, hoping that he wouldn't notice them along the way.
“RUN, IT’S HIM!”
One of the members quickly followed after his comrades who ran to the next floors, but he unfortunately tripped on one of the furniture that was scattered all around the skyscraper.
He recognized Dex’s face, staring below at him with a smirk on his face, as he realized that there was nothing that he could do from that point on but to wait for his eventual death.
“Where’s your leader at? I know that he’s somewhere around here”
Dex questioned the Sandstorm member, who was laying down on the ground slowly attempting to move away, but was ultimately stopped by Dex who stepped on his right foot, preventing him from moving away any further from him, not like he could successfully escape anyway.
“H-He’s at the top of the skyscraper, specifically on the 65th floor–”
The member hadn’t realized it, but he was already laced with the poison from the twin dagger, causing his entire body to be paralyzed just from a single drop that Dex carefully placed upon him, making sure that he set the right amount so that he wouldn’t die from the immense pain.
His entire skin turned pale, and he was screaming out in pure agony upon realizing that he was laced with the poison from one of Dex’s twin daggers.
“Second question… Are there any more outlaws in this skyscraper, kinda like the one who caused all this? I’m trying to recruit some outlaws for my crew right now.”
Dex questioned the Sandstorm member once again, but to no response, the member couldn’t stand the pain of the poison, and went unconscious due to it, something that Dex failed to understand when lacing him with the deadly and potent poison.
Smoke clogged the air, and molten steel dripped from the ceiling like it was candle wax. Dex knew that he wouldn’t get any more answers from the Sandstorm member, and left him out to die from the fire that occurred from down below that was slowly spreading throughout the floors.
The skyscraper was severely damaged, and was on the brink of collapsing entirely, but Dex still persevered, and ascended through the floors of the skyscraper, defeating more Sandstorm members whilst the other members either ran away or concealed their presence from him.
After two hours of nonstop fighting, Dex saw himself at the 59th floor of the skyscraper, and he was already quite exhausted, and needed to take a break from the scuffle that was happening inside the skyscraper. He sat down on one of the couches in the skyscraper that was surprisingly still intact even after all of the fighting.
He desperately gasped for oxygen, as the air on the higher floors of the skyscraper was quite thin, and needed to rely on a system that created oxygen from thin air to keep the skyscraper viable. But with the damages that the skyscraper suffered from, its oxygen system broke down, leaving most of the Sandstorm members dead on the floor, running out of oxygen as the machinery to create sustainable oxygen for them to breathe was shattered.
“Shit, I won’t be able to last for much longer if this keeps happening.”
Dex felt like he was being relentlessly choked with the thin air on top of the skyscraper, but he kept moving on, going to the 60th floor where he was met with more flames that engulfed the entire room, the furniture thrown by the opponents were quite hard to traverse, and the smoke released by the flames were engulfing the entire floor, causing Dex to experience difficulties in seeing and it didn’t help in the slightest.
He was slowly going unconscious, with the oxygen in his body slowly running out, his vision was turning blurry, and he felt like he was constantly zoning in and out.
Soon enough, Dex realized that the next floor had almost no damages in a way, except for the furniture thrown around, but the lights and especially the oxygen system still operated, giving him a sense of hope throughout the way.
With pure determination, he slowly crawled upon the stairs where his skin was starting to turn pale white, gasping for breath along the way. He kept ascending the stairs to the 61st floor, hoping that he could get there on time before he would go unconscious and possibly die.
Each step was extremely difficult to perform, and each second counted in the form of life or death. But ultimately, Dex managed to crawl his way up to the 61st floor, where he was left gasping for breath, after being left with little to no oxygen for so long.
With his supernatural abilities, he was able to last a few minutes longer than an average person at oxygen levels that low, due to his body being enhanced with an unnatural force that only a few know.
He hopelessly lied down on the floor gasping for oxygen, with the lights flickering at random intervals due to the battle that was happening above, he rested for a tad bit before standing up and continuing on with his goal of recruiting the person responsible for all the damages.
“Heh… That was nothing…”
Dex tightened his black bandana, and swiftly dashed to the stairway to the next floor where the fight between the leader of the Sandstorms and the outlaw responsible for all the damages to the skyscraper resided. This was his only opportunity to possibly recruit a new member for his outlaw crew, and he took it immediately without any regard for the consequences of his actions.
