The silhouette suddenly vanished, leaving the Intergalactic soldiers baffled and confused about the situation that they were currently in. It was as if the shadowy figure was simply just a ghost that only the soldiers could see, and that it only existed within their minds.
“Wh-Where the hell is he?! He just vanished without a trace!”
Said one of the Intergalactic soldiers, who was utterly confused, and could only think of where the silhouette could’ve gone.
“Maybe he could’ve gone into the rooftops? That has to be the only explanation for this.” another Intergalactic soldier guessed where the shadowy figure could’ve been.
He scratched his head, for he was left wondering what really happened to the shadowy figure that they had just seen a few minutes ago. His mind was cluttered with thoughts of the silhouette, and how he managed to disappear from their sight in a blink of an eye, something that he deemed to be impossible.
“It’s probably just a false person, let’s move on with the mission.”
Said the Intergalactic Captain, who commanded his soldiers to follow him into another location where the outlaws resided, creating multiple explosions and causing a huge ruckus in the area that could be noticed from afar.
The Intergalactic soldiers listened to their leader, and moved out of the district where they saw the silhouette of a shadowy figure that suddenly vanished, walking in the opposite direction, with their loud footsteps noticeably being heard throughout the apartments.
Multiple civilians saw the Intergalactic soldiers who came to stop the outlaw problem in the town, which gave them a sense of hope and relief, knowing that the Intergalactic Federation has come to save them from the outlaws who steal their treasured valuables.
However, the shadowy figure, revealed to be a young boy in his teenage years with long, wavy, two-toned black and silver hair, a black bandana that he always wore at the top of his forehead, and also wore grunge-style clothing, was sitting in the rooftops, staring down at the Intergalactic soldiers who had just moved away after failing to find him, and even thinking that he was just a false perception in their eyes.
He had two miniature twin daggers with a greenish glow that he used for close-ranged combat, the daggers were laced with a deadly poison that could paralyze a living creature in mere seconds, making it quite viable during fights where only one slip-up could mean everything, and it also gave a huge advantage when in a brawl with an opponent.
His name was Dex Solstice, an infamous outlaw in the town, known for being swift and precise with his movements, moving at the speed of sound where he was nearly undetectable by the merchants and bounty hunters.
“Blink, and he’ll disappear”
The citizens thought to themselves whenever they saw him plundering loot from the rich merchants and criminal organizations, who in irritation hired hitmen, Intergalactic forces, and bounty hunters to finally stop his reign in the town, but even that wasn’t enough to get rid of him.
Dex Solstice was considered an anomaly in the world of outlaws, with his supersonic speed and large heists making him a household name in Vespera, feared by both the citizens and other outlaws alike.
He stared at the barren wasteland that is Vespera, with multiple sandstorms appearing every now and then, the buildings and marketplaces that surrounded the entire town, with almost no signs of any trees or plants in sight.
With an arrogant look on his face, he suddenly stood up, and sensed someone a few meters away from him. He simply stood there in an idled position, not moving a single inch of his body, like he was some sort of mannequin.
He was already well aware of it just a few seconds ago, but there was a hitman sent by one of the rich merchants who were tired of his antics. This hitman wore entirely black clothing, wearing a suit and dark glasses to conceal his true identity, and aimed his sniper rifle at Dex, preparing to pull the trigger in just a few seconds.
However, he saw that his target was just frozen in place, like he was accepting his inevitable fate, but in reality, he knew that there was a hitman behind him, bearing a sniper rifle.
The hitman was quite perplexed, “He’s just standing there, should I attack?”
He wondered to himself if he should really attack Dex and pull the trigger to the sniper rifle, he thought wisely about this for a few seconds, before finally coming to a conclusion.
With no signs of hesitation and regret, he pulled the trigger to the sniper rifle, the bullet travelled at the speed of sound, and it was rushing towards Dex, who still stood at the building, acting as if the bullet wasn’t there.
“That won’t work on me.”
Dex told the hitman before he unleashed one of his daggers, and cut the bullet in half as it was about to approach him. This act surprised the hitman, and caused him to instantly retreat from the building that he stood on.
“Shit! I need to move away from him!”
The hitman quickly stood up, rushed towards the edge of the building where he was planning to escape from his target by jumping off and landing on a stack of hay bales conveniently placed below.
However, it was already too late.
Dex appeared before him in a blink of an eye, and prevented him from fleeing the building where he stood on, the hitman’s face was filled with fear, knowing that his fate was ultimately sealed.
Dex grinned in excitement, “Who sent you to kill me?”
He curiously questioned the hitman, spinning the deadly dagger laced with poison around, with tiny drops of the poison leaking on the floor.
“H-Herald sent me here! He told me that he would pay me a hefty amount if I managed to kill you!”
The hitman stuttered, creating a clearly frightened expression in his face that Dex immediately noticed.
“Herald? You mean the leader of Sandstorm? I’m surprised that he sent a brat like you to kill me, I would’ve been more satisfied if it were someone else.”
Dex instantly knew that name, it seemed that his cruel antics were such a problem that Sandstorm, one of the most prolific gangs in the entire planet, was trying to get rid of him by sending hitmen.
“Well, if he’s gonna try and get rid of me, he better send me one of his higher-ups!”
Dex yelled out in anger and irritation, decapitating the hitman with his green dagger laced with poison, and creating a pool of blood on the rooftop of the building that spread around.
“I think I might’ve gotten too far.”
He thought to himself before he jumped down to the stack of hay bales conveniently placed below the apartment that the hitman was supposed to use to successfully escape from his grasp.
As he was about to flee the area, planning to find the one responsible for sending hitmen to kill him, a sudden explosion occurred along the way, and loud, audible screams could be heard from afar.
Dex was intrigued by this, he looked at the direction of where the explosion occurred, and saw a surge of lightning that appeared on one of the skyscrapers in the town. With debris and rubble dropping down at a fast pace, he knew that someone strong was in there.
“This is gonna be fun!”
He quickly rushed to the skyscraper that was engulfed in flames, and filled to the brim with smoke, with pure excitement in his face, he smirked on his way there, whilst the skyscraper kept suffering massive damages, and large amounts of debris were crashing down from above.
