~Chapter two~
~The Mysterious Guest~
I woke up, my head spinning. I felt like I couldn't breathe. I inhaled slowly and shallowly and exhaled, long and thoughtful. I looked at the sky to see that night had passed and I could see the beautiful duck egg blue sky again. I felt a sense of security knowing I was alright. I suddenly realised that Lizzie was spreadeagled, unconscious, on the floor next to me. I let out a shrill scream as I remembered. The book. The book! I stood, ran to it and kicked it away. Breathing frantically, I dashed to Lizzie. “LIZZIE! Wake up!”
She opened her eyes and I slapped her lightly. “You scared me!” I cried, turning my head away and huffing. Lizzie shouted, “ HEY! What was that for?”
I turned away from Lizzie, knowing she was alright. I gazed at the book. Slowly approaching the dusty book, I touched it. I felt a surge of power just like I'd been electrocuted. I opened the book. The writing inside was unlike anything I’d ever seen. It looked like the elven script that Keven Bell, 15, He’s a little elf crazy but he’s alright, keeps babbling about. I looked around frantically and realized that the book was floating. So was I! I let out a scream and Lizzie jumped into action. “ISABELE!”
I turned around. Thump! I fell on the ground. Lizzie was way too disorientated to realise I was floating. “Isa-belle, Were you f-fll-oatin-g?”
Damn, she noticed. Lmao, Okay back to business. “Lizzie, yes I was floating.”
She gave me that puzzle look, I turned away and read the book, I realised that the book is STILL floating, so I quickly grabbed it out of the air. I read the contents in English. I read out, “...” I gasped. “NO WAY!” I turned to realise Lizzie had fallen asleep. Typical of her. I watched her sleep. I picked up Lizzie and placed her on a disheveled arm chair. I went round and explored the library. I walked into a room, loads of red candles on the ground in a pattern. The ground looked burnt too. I got hit on the back of the head. The magical book came flying into the room. My friend Lizzie came walking in. “What the… What kind of voodoo magic is this?”
“I don’t know.” I stared at the floor. The book flies up to my face and opens showing me a spell, when I look at it turns into english. “No, I am not going to sacrifice Lizzie! Yes, she’s a mortal. So? UGH! NO! I will not sacrifice Lizzie.” Suddenly, a massive blinding light appears in the middle of the candles. “We will be taking you two.”
I look at them, they’re elves. “No.” I stand in front of Lizzie. “Too feisty.” The elf replies. I stare at the elf, My mouth open. “No, I am not. You would be lucky to have me as your friend.” I stare at the elf. He looks displeased, he walks past me. “Speak, Mortal.” I turn around. “Um…. Who are you?” Lizzie answers. I look at her frantically. She turns her head to me. I could see her panic in her eyes. “Perfect. This one” The elf says.
I look at him confused. “Perfect for what? If you're taking her, you're taking me too!”
The elf looks annoyed, “Okay, fine.” He tells us to follow him. I grab Lizzie's hand and follow the elf. I walked into the circle, the book snuggled itself into my backpack. Lizzie’s grip tightened. I look at her and smile. I whisper, “ we’ll be fine.”
She nods. I turn back to the elf. “So… what are we doing?”
It doesn’t answer, it just stands there silent. “It’s rude to IgNoRe people, you know, I thought elves would have manners.”
When it turns around, I have a straight face. It just looks me up and down. “Um..”
It turns back around.
