Kaito found himself enveloped in another strange dream, where reality seemed to blur at the edges. Before him stood a bright, angelic figure, its form shimmering with a radiant, ethereal glow that seemed to pulse gently with an inner light. The air around it shimmered like a mirage, adding to the surreal beauty of the vision. The only detail Kaito could discern with clarity were its mesmerizing eyes, a hypnotic swirl of purple and blue, resembling the vast, mysterious depths of the cosmos themselves. Those eyes seemed alive, as if they held the secrets of the universe within their gaze. The figure appeared to be speaking, but the words were elusive, barely audible, like a distant whisper carried on a gentle breeze, teasing the edges of his awareness.
Suddenly, the dream took a dark, foreboding turn. The once radiant figure, which had been bathed in a warm, golden light, now transformed into a shadowy and menacing presence. Its form seemed to ripple with ominous energy, and its eyes burned with a sinister red glow, like embers in the depths of a dying fire. This eerie transformation filled Kaito with a deep, unsettling sense of dread, as if ice had settled into his veins. The surrounding darkness thickened, pressing in from all sides, threatening to engulf him completely in its suffocating embrace.
With a jolt, Kaito woke up, his eyes blurry from grogginess. His heart pounded in his chest as he tried to shake off the remnants of the unsettling dream. As he blinked and his vision cleared, he heard a soft chuckle and a soothing male voice.
"Did you know you talk in your sleep?"
Kaito looked over to see the man he had helped earlier, now sitting up and staring at him with a soft and curious expression. The man's white hair and flawless skin stood out in the dim light of the room.
"I'm Ren," the stranger introduced himself, his voice calm and gentle.
Kaito didn't know what to say, so he just stared at Ren, his mind racing with questions and confusion. Ren chuckled again, a warm and friendly sound that put Kaito at ease.
"This is usually where you introduce yourself," Ren said, a hint of amusement in his eyes.
Kaito snapped out of his daze and managed a small, embarrassed smile. "I'm Kaito. Kaito Nakamura."
Ren’s eyes roamed over Kaito, and the attention caused butterflies to stir in Kaito's stomach. He repeated Kaito's name, "Kaito," and smiled a perfectly white grin, only to wince because of the bruises on his face.
Quickly standing, Kaito said, "I found you among the rubbish in an alleyway. I couldn't just leave you there since you were badly beaten up." He grabbed a bag of frozen vegetables from his freezer and handed it to Ren. "Here, put this on your bruises," Kaito offered, trying to be helpful.
Ren took the bag but didn't speak, his gaze drifting blankly to the floor. After a moment, he shrugged, avoiding eye contact.
The room was silent for a moment as Kaito gathered his thoughts. He hesitated before asking, "Where are you from?"
Ren's eyes lifted to meet Kaito's, their intensity making Kaito's heart race. There was something otherworldly in that gaze, something that made him both nervous and intrigued.
"Far away from here," Ren replied, his voice carrying a weight of untold stories and hidden truths.
Kaito could feel that there was much more behind those words, but for now, he respected Ren's reluctance to share. The mysteries would unravel in their own time, and Kaito was determined to be there every step of the way.
Kaito fidgeted with his hands before asking, "Are you visiting long?"
Ren shrugged again, offering little in the way of verbal answers. The silence stretched between them, filled with unspoken thoughts.
Taking a deep breath, Kaito continued, "Do you have a place to stay? If not, you're welcome to stay with me for a while."
Ren's eyes softened, and for a moment, Kaito thought he saw a flicker of gratitude. But Ren simply nodded, accepting the offer without a word.
Kaito found himself unable to look away from Ren, his gaze locked onto the stranger's mesmerizing features. Ren noticed the prolonged stare and raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in his eyes.
"Why are you staring at me?" Ren asked, his voice calm and curious.
Kaito's heart skipped a beat, and he began to stutter, his nervousness getting the better of him. "I-I'm s-sorry... I j-just... I didn't mean to... I mean..."
Ren stared at Kaito in surprise, then his expression softened. He reached out and placed a hand on top of Kaito's, causing the words to die in Kaito's throat. The touch was gentle, and the warmth of Ren's hand seemed to calm Kaito's racing thoughts.
Ren chuckled softly. "Do you usually stutter like this?"
Kaito's cheeks flushed a deep, vivid crimson, the warmth spreading across his face like a rising tide of embarrassment that seemed to engulf him entirely. Yet, the calming aura of Ren, who stood beside him with an unruffled serenity, was like a gentle balm soothing his frayed nerves, making him feel unexpectedly at ease in the midst of his turmoil. "O-only when I g-get n-nervous," he stammered, his voice faltering, each word catching painfully in his throat as he squeezed his eyes shut, desperately trying to gather his scattered thoughts and regain his composure.
Ren grinned widely at Kaito's stutter, his eyes twinkling with a playful amusement that danced like sunlight on water. "I find it charming," he said, his voice warm and sincere, wrapping around the words like a cozy blanket on a chilly evening.
Kaito stared at Ren in surprise, his heart pounding even harder. The unexpected compliment caught him off guard, and he struggled to find the right words. "Th-thank you," he managed to say, feeling a mix of gratitude and embarrassment.
